Greetings to all,

My girlfriend and I are going out there at the end of May and I just bought her the new Sealife DC600 and we are looking forward to getting some fantastic shots with it. Can anyone recommend great macro shooting spots there? If anyone can recommend where to find the hidden jewels that would be great.

Best wishes to all,
Tony

I shoot a lot of macro and have not found a Bonaire dive site that does provide more than enough opportunities for macro. My best advice is to slow way down and really look at the soft corals; tons of stuff in there.

Anthony,
Traditionally you will here Town Pier but I must agree with Ron. The majority of my dives are spent moving slowly along looking for A.L.F. (annoying little fish). This could be over the drop off, along the reef or on the terrace. There is something everywhere if you take the time to look. I am sure you will find endless material to try out your new camera on.

It might be worth spending a few dives getting used to diving with a camera unless you have done so before. It is very easy to lose track of buoyancy when focusing on that special shot and macro really does mean getting close to your subject.

Have a great holiday!

house reefs are all great for macros...the reef tends to be broken up enough, patches of sand around coral heads, you can setup better for a shot...

nighttime too...

the "breath taking" reefs are not that suitable (la dania's to karpata for example) for macros, a lot of times you can not get to the targets...

definitely take long, close looks at anemones and brain corals/corals (blennies/gobies)

good luck,

Look under the docks at the different resorts, you will find all kinds of life from little bitty to fairly large. Take it slow and take long, close looks at anything that might harbor life.

Sorry about the camera. One place that is over looked by photographers is Eden's Rubble at Eden Beach. All the same fish but none of that pesky coral to hide behind. There's also some great cleaning stations there.

Thanks to all of you. I have a feeling that I will be the spotter and then signal for my girlfriend to come in and get the shot. I am sure that we will be looking everywhere we dive and am definitely interested in night dive shots too!
