Take a look at the background for this picture. Can anyone name the dive site?
|
By Richard (BonaireTalker - Post #94) on Wednesday, October 25, 2006 - 7:45 pm: |
OK, some problems with the image; my computer locked up during the upload process. Here's another try. Guess the dive location.
|
By Richard (BonaireTalker - Post #95) on Wednesday, October 25, 2006 - 7:51 pm: |
Same problem. One more try, this time I closed my web browser, then reopened it. If this doesn't work I'm going to try rebooting the computer and starting over. I've posted lots of pictures in the past with minimal problems so I don't think its the formatting or the image size.

Well, the old saying goes "the third time's a charm." Not this time. This is my 4th try.

Could be Calabas (in front of the Divi), there are some old dead ended mooring lines there.

|
By Richard (Experienced BonaireTalker - Post #108) on Friday, October 27, 2006 - 6:34 am: |
My last picture hasn't been guessed yet; it's a bit too tough without a single distinguishing feature so I'll give a hint. Note the density and lushness of the soft corals; this is typical of several dive sites down south. Another hint . . . this is a named site, but not marked. Get out your Bonaire Shore Diving book and you can narrow this one down quickly.
|

|
By Richard (Experienced BonaireTalker - Post #109) on Friday, October 27, 2006 - 7:18 am: |
You're getting red hot! Remember one of the above hints; it's an unmarked site - there are several of these in this area. Another hint; there are some large stands of elkhorn coral near the shore.
|
By Brian (Extraordinary BonaireTalker - Post #2292) on Friday, October 27, 2006 - 7:30 am: |
I remember Fish Hut is around there somewhere

By Bas (Experienced BonaireTalker - Post #369) on Friday, October 27, 2006 - 7:45 am: |
No Tribs, but you are going the right way. It's not an unmarked site and is actually one many peoples favorite list. Still playing nice... nothing nobody would know ;-) In that category I found some nice ones but who would know. No fun I guess...

Brian, Fish Hut is a good guess - keep moving South. I guess I'm not playing nice by choosing an unmarked site. Several people have mentioned diving this site in posts that I have read in the past. I'll post an easier one once we get this beast out of the way.

By Bas (Experienced BonaireTalker - Post #371) on Friday, October 27, 2006 - 10:31 pm: |
Yes, when you go left at Ol Blue and stay in about 25ft you will come to about 4 or 5 pretty big mounts or really big chuncks of rock... I'm not sure what they are exactly. But they're nicely grown with corals and a lot of fish hang around them.

As you enter this southern site there is a single house to the right. I've never seen it occupied. This pic was taken at about 80' looking down at the sand between the start of the double reefs.

By Bas (Experienced BonaireTalker - Post #372) on Monday, October 30, 2006 - 8:47 am: |
Yes, Erik. But the 'never seen occupied house' has to be to the right of you so it has to be the lake.
