Hi Bob! I think the first is a parrot in pajamas, but the second kind of looks like a filefish of some sort(?). Not certain because my monitor is not very good. Could the last one be a red grouper???

I just saw a picture of a parrot fish in night colors online and it looked just like fish number 1.

i still say two parrott fish and probably not a grouper (lips are wrong) - looks like a blue or gray/blue stripe fish i see often (which i have not ID'd) - have not seen a brown one though...

Too funny Bob! I told you my monitor is bad...the third guy looks like he has big heavy lips. Oh well, I'm useless.

Bob, the fish you suggested as number 3 is not right. The picture doesn't show it but the tail is wrong. He did look like a rather small grouper to me. He was about 12 - 14" best guess.

Ed - your brown fish is a cubera snapper...bobs guess is a blue runner hard tailed jack...the first two are parrots....

Ed - I'd say they are both female stoplight parrots...is the first photo a night shot? The other fish you describe is the most common west Indian jack frequently seen over the reefs called the bar jack &/or skip jack.

Both parrots were taken at night.

The second "blue and white" fish is a redband parrot fish (in night colors). the red band along the dorsal fin gives it away.

Susan Porter suggested that the third fish is a yellowmouth grouper and I think she's right. If you blow up the picture you can make out the yellow coloration on the lips.
