We already own a Stylus 500 and are wondering if it's worthwhile to buy its underwater housing and use it for fish/coral pics while snorkeling. I see one comment from Ellen Muller that it's not the right camera for underwater and another post from a happy Stylus 500 user, Kathy Hall.

This is a no-brainer, get the housing and try it out for yourself. You will need an Olympus PT-26 housing. There are many available on E-Bay. Not that much money, $140 or there abouts. My bet is that it will work great. Somewhere down the road, you may want to upgrade but you will be happy in the meantime.

Just got this housing for my daughter's camera so I can use my own camera. Will post results from our upcoming Keys trip when we get back.

Happy spending money, Cecil? Are you sure that you are a New Englander now? I'll really have to dither about this for a while before I can bring myself actually to spend money. Why, the very thought frightens me. (With apologies to Sir Harry Lauder, not that it makes any difference now.)

I have not been here long enough yet to pick up that trait, only 25 years. I hear it takes a couple of generations to really kick in.
