ok so i don't have enough to do...anyway, i purchased a set of closeup filters for my old nikkor 50mm manual focus with the intent of reducing the cameras minimum focus distance to less than 1 ft (ikelite dome ports create a virtual focus point at 1 ft, regardless of actual subject distance - supposedly)...well, as it turns out, the addition of closeup filters really turns the 50mm into a macro and wipes out focus to infinity (not the desired end)...however, it would appear that if i went ahead and attempted to use the filtered 50mm under the dome port i would have a macro that once was set to 1 ft would not require additional focusing!!! too good to be true?

As you get close to the subject your focus will change slightly with the dome port. If you really want to go this route a 55mm f2.8 micro AIS can usually be found cheap on eBay.
