Good evening Everyone,
We have just ordered a Nikon D70 and will be getting the housing and strobes from Ikelite.
I was hoping that you all would help me wait for it's arrival by sharing D70 stories.

If anyone has used the D70 and have any comments or suggestions I would love to hear them.

My previous underwater photography experience has been with the MX5 by Sea&Sea and the Sealife Reefmaster digital. I have a pentax SLR that I have used for years on land but not underwater.

I look forward to your comments.
Thanks
Dana

Dana

it is a great camera, get the 105mm and 60mm macro lens. Look at the Sea & Sea housings. I had the Nikon F80 with the Ikelite housing and it was too big, I named the set up Godzilla. My D70 and Sea&Sea Housing is great, I also have the YS90DX strobe. I have posted some pictures from Indonesia at http://www.oldbonairetalk.com/newsgroup/messages/23830/228014.html?1118668730

Have a great time with the D70

The only dive camera rig i have owned is a D-70 with an Ikelite housing. I have the kit lens , 18-70 and one DS-125 strobe (i'd like/need a second strobe). That lens requires a close up filter to correct focusing with the Ikelite dome. I've used the camera on only one trip and it was to Bonaire and had great results- I got a few pictures I could enlarge and print. I'd suggest you get at least one 1 gig card- I have two. I took about 300 pictures and about 1/3 of them are "presentable" the rest are junk, and about 10 of them are great. This link had some good tips i was able to use: http://www.splashdowndivers.com/photo_gallery/underwater_photography/up_equipment_d70.htm
My wants list is : a second strobe, a macro lens and dome. A laptop would be handy too.
I take the pics in the RAW/jpeg format. It takes one RAW image and one low quality jpeg at the same time. You can take about 90 shots on a 1 gig card. The RAW images are the most editable, if that is a word. I used Photoshop Elements 3.0 for editing. I also have Premier Elements and that will allow you to create a DVD slide show that you can play on your TV.
