I'm interested in the Fuji F 700 and the dedicated underwater housing thats available for it. Has anyone used this camera before? Any info will be a plus. Thank You.

Jerry, not very much info out there on anyone using that camera for underwater. I did a search on the scubaboard and did not find any examples. Does not mean it will not do a good job.

Hi Jerry,

Jenni my wife has one, it takes very good pictures and has quite an impressive video function as well. The housing is compact and the controls seem well laid out and come easy to hand.

The downside is that it uses XD cards, more expensive than CF, and has a bespoke battery so you can't resort to AA's. The Fuji housing only has one o-ring, I don't know about other housings.

First time out Jenni's camaera flooded after an hour and just before we surfaced. We retieved the pictures but the camera was written off. The cause was a very fine filament of nylon across the seal that was hardly visable. It passed the leak check OK. Just goes to show how careful you have to be. She liked it so much she now has another.

Hope this helps.

Dave

Bright lights and magnifying glasses are often in order. Once I flooded my one ring housing, I was ready for a two ring housing instead.
