Has anyone had experience with the Sea Life DC 250?
Quality of pics, pros / cons?

THANKS

Frank, not sure where to start. That camera is only slightly better than a disposable (only because it's digital). It has a fixed focus, no zoom lens, 2 megapixel and will not focus inside 3'. That's further than I will shoot a picture underwater (you need to be close). It sells for $280 on the internet, for $320 you can get a Canon A95. This is a 5 megapixel, 3x optical zoom camera that will focus down to 1". The last the Sea Life can not do even with 2 macro lens (at $50 each). Now the underwater housing for that camera will run another $180 but in the mean time you will have a great camera to use out of the water.

If you are getting the Sealife due to your budget, wait a bit till you can afford more. You'll be much happier with the results. In underwater photography getting good pictures is already very difficult, having a substandard camera makes it just about impossible.

Frank,
I have to agree with Cecil.

I spent two weeks in Bonaire using my DC200 camera with poor results. I was limited by my budget and opted for the Sealife package and now regret it. The LCD display is hard to see underwater, lens kept fogging, the focal range is too far away and it uses up batteries like there is no tomorrow. I went to Capt. Don's camera shop and told the guy working there about my problems, and he just shook his head sadly. They rent the Sea&Sea DX3000 there and he said they have very good results with them. I'll probably give the DC200 to my daughter to goof around with but *I* WILL have a better camera on my next trip to Bonaire.
