Just ordered an Olympus 5050 for upcoming trip to Bonaire 12/27. Does anyone have advice re the relative merits of the (inexpensive) housing offered by Olympus vs. the Ikelite housing? I am a novice, this is my first non-point&shoot camera. I plan to start off without an external strobe & get a feel for the camera. The Oly housing is only rated to 130 ft but I don't go beyond this. Any advice would be appreciated.

-David

Dave, if you do a keyword search on Olympus, available at the bottom of this page, you will get a wealth of information, there are some Olympus hounds around, including me, tho I have the last generation 4040 and pt 010 housing. I like the Olympus housings, but they are all I know.
BTW, you will be able to offload your cards onto cdrs while on the island at Chat and Browse.
Digital rules.

Go over to the Scuba Source board and check the uw photography forums. There are loads of discussions on the PT-015 for the 5050. Most of people like it. I am going to order one soon myself. www.scubasource.com By the way, the best deals we have been able to find have been at newegg.com $138 if I remember correctly.

I also highly recommend newegg. Thanks to all the help we received here we recently purchased through them. Good prices and prompt service.

I bought the Oly housing for my c5050. DigitalDiver.net is also a wonderful resource for digital camera info--anything you would ever want or need to know is there!

Thanks, all. I ordered the PT-015 from newegg.com. Can't see paying 4x as much for a depth rating I won't use.
