Hi
Heading to Bonaire for 10 days next week with with my wife.
She is final getting PADI certified and wanted good cameras for UW pic. So I purchased used Nikonos V with SB 105 Strobe and 35mm lens. This setup is in brand new condtion.
My Questions is
What is best brand and speed of film to use?
To get good color and shot of fish /wife How close do I have to be ?
What is best field of view with 35mm len ?
Any other suggestions would be helpful
Cant wait to dive in bonaire once again
Tight Lines Capt Gene

Depends upon the power of your strobe. Simple rule is if you aren't close enough to extend your arm out and touch your subject, don't bother shooting it. Even the most powerful strobes are useless beyond five feet underwater.

Shoot a roll before you go. The Nikonos takes great shots above water too. Write down your fstops and distance etc, then review the prints and you will have a better idea how your settings work. Also, bracket your shots ie, one stop above and one below to see how that effects your pics. The automatic setting takes the guess work out of it too. I will be expecting a trip report with pictures when you return!!

I also use a Nikonos V with the 35 mm lens and SB105 strobe. I usually use ISO 100 slide film but print film gives you a little more latitude. I typically set my f-stop to 8 and the strobe to TTL. I set the focus to 3 feet and adjust from there. For fish or coral (unless right near the surface) the strobe won't give much light beyond about 4 feet. If you use ISO 200 film you can close down 1 stop and get better depth of field.
