GREAT pictures !!
Sad to see The Green Parrot pictures.
Where can you enter to do the dive at The Sand Dollar? It's one of my wife's favorites. We'll be back in October and she'll want to head for that dive right away.

Michael,

Sand Dollar Dive & Photo is now located just
behind Den Laman, right next to the Sand
Dollar Condo property. Entry to Bari Reef is
between Den Laman and the Condo 'shower
house', where the Den Laman jetty was once
upon a time BL (before Lenny).

Dear Michael, The entry at Sand Dollar is still very easy. It is right on the south end of the property where the steps go down to the little beach. We just returned from a two week trip to Sand Dollar in August and did all our diving from the house reef right at Sand Dollar. If you have any questions please let us know. Have a great trip.

Thanks a lot for those beautifull pictures. Itīs the first time I add a message on this newsgroup. Wasnīt skilled enough up till today since all other users seem to be american. Iīm from Berlin/Germany and the board helped me a lot for my first travel in January 2000. Would like to give a trip report myself, but didn`t find out how to do it yet. Bye to all Bonaire-Fans.

Welcome Brigitte, We are an international crowd here, if a little heavy on the Americans. To post your trip report, Click on the button at the bottom called Topics, then click on Trip Reports in the list, then click on the button centered at the bottom of the list called Create New Conversation. Then just title your report and type into the message box, like you did to post here in Joanne's thread. I hope I didn't miss a step, but that should do it.

I am considering a family trip to Bonaire. I am the only diver in my family. Can someone please comment on non-diving activities such as shopping for my wife and daughter. Also which hotel has the best natural sand beach ?

Ron: I also am an only diver, but wife and 8-year old daughter always find plenty of things to do...but shopping is not one of them. Fancy duty free shopping is pretty limited on Bonaire (although we always seem to come away each year with an extra suitcase of stuff).Alternatives to diving include snorkling trips on the Woodwind; trying out the great restaurants; watching flamingoes, egrets and all the other birdlife; touring the island on motor scooters or by bicycle; windsurfing or just hanging out at Lac Bai; sport fishing; exploring Washington Park; visiting one of the kunuku's and horse-back riding; or any one of the various activites listed in the "52 things to do list" posted here (see the messages at http://www.oldbonairetalk.com/newsgroup/messages/27/75.html)
We love Bonaire, and come back year after year...it is the best place in the world to disconnect and kick back---but if you need to have lots of nightlife and real "touristy" type activites, Bonaire might not work out for you.
As for hotels with beaches, Plaza and Harbor Village have decent beaches, and the Divi Flamingo has a little beach, but Bonaire is not a place to come for hotels famous for their beaches. Nice beach at Sorobon, too, by the way.
