Thanks for a nice site, Seb. We look forward to your report. I love the Seahorse photo.
It was nice to meet you, although very briefly, while you were getting your "house-sitting orientation". We were the group going out to Small Wall.

Hey Linda, thanks for the nice comments. I'm sure it was nice to meet you, though frankly after a half hour getting oriented to the Richters, my brain was quite full and I was speeding on caffiene. In fact I am waiting for the FEdex man to bring me some more beans!

There were two holidays,Easter and Rincon Day while we were on the island, Easter is a big one, some stores were closed so we became instant shoppers our first full day on the island. No container that week meant stuff would be running out quicker than usual and would not be rapidly restocked.Saturdays is always Canoceria Latina Day for us, ribs for lunch and a whole chicken for dinner and meals through the weekend, we are after all on vacation here folks. Numerous meals at Gibis, a couple at Blue Moon, several at Pasa Bon, one at Seahorse Cafe, all excellent. Our first breakfast at Cozzolis. Lots of granola for breakfasts and fruit and cheese for lunch.

We did most of our diving wherever we were, a lot at the Richters while we were there and a couple of days while we were staying across the street. We ended up moving down the block from them for our extra added week, and dove very near where we had been diving.

We were going to dive Weber's Joy but there were a lot of folks living by the witches hut and it seemed an odd vibe so we did Oil Slik instead, found one of the seahorses. Also dived
Salt pier, the Hooker, Bellafonte reef (twice). 67 tanks between us..
Four lodging moves. Four vehicles. Two days no vehicle due to Rincon Day, I thought it was the little monthly one, BUT NO, it is a big holiday and with a convention of MDs at the Plaza, there were no cars to be had. We survived, with the good graces of Linda R. helping us get tanks and pizza.
Phone from Michael Gaynor, his shop is quite nice and I may do all my digital photo transfers there next trip.
We looked at a number of properties to rent, but the crime situation is a factor to consider. We ended up diving where the dive bus was when we went south, the petty theft is becoming more of a problem, and becoming less petty. Of course, if you can rent a place right on the water you appear to be home (vehicle) when you are in fact diving in your front yard.

It was a blast looking after the Richters house, the animals were all a treat, now we have to contend with Post Menagerie Depression as well as PBD.

OkOkOk so you leave town by the church, the big triangle, taking the road south or away from the Kooeyman road (right instead of left at the triangle), and you pass old Mi Poron, and then yes, 1st bus stop is Industria, pass the second and then the next right on Kaya Aripuana, immediatley take the next left off of Aripuana and you will see the place on the right they have a chicken farm.
We are big fans of the chicken and ribs there, they are delicious, and for a whole chicken and a box of ribs for 22 naf is OK!
How we found the place? I think somebody must have turned us on to it, I don't think we "stumbled" upon it, but I do not remember who told us.
If Mary remembers I will pass it on, but she is Miss Bronchitis today, and will remember very little, I suspect.

ROTI? a eatery, or the fried potato things? they have them at Swiss Inn

Those are "Roesti" (the "o" has an umlaut - two dots above it, but I haven't a clue how to make that happen here, so you add an "e" after it) - pronounced "Reauxshti" (using a French "eaux" as in Bordeaux).

For Roti, check out the Suriname Bar & Grill, I think.

Jake
