I put up a page of images from our Bonaire trip (Apr 22 - May 5) on my web pages. I will write up a trip report, eventually...

the page is at

Susan, loved the pictures, had trouble with the web site. I didn't know which pictures I had already looked at, also one web page for every picture seems a bit much. I like thumbnails that point at the jpg's, don't forget that brosers will load jpg's. My $.02 ($1.23 adjusted for inflation).

yes, great photos! couldn't remember where i was either but after looking at most of them it was even better using the "back" button to flip thru them...

guess i'm gonna have to rent a camera...

Yeah, Geoffrey suggested I use "next" and "back" buttons, since there are so many photos.

Since the page is asp, and it's actually database driven (I entered the names of the images and descriptions of them), and there is an index field, so that shouldn't be that hard. I just haven't rewritten the code yet (the darn for-pay job keeps getting in the way!)

It is nice to know that the only changes I'll need to do to make the pages display is upload the new image and add it to the database.

Sometimes I get way too geeky - sorry!

Susan

Oh and Cecil - it really is just one web page. It just gets rewritten with a new image and description every time you hit a button.

You are too organized Susan - I haven't even found the time to look at my slides let alone scan anything. If it's not yardwork, it's housework and every weekend we go out of the city to a small trailer we have at a private resort so the weekends are not spent "working" just "relaxing". Once I get mine scanned I'll post some and if you want any from the BBQ I'll snail mail them to you.

Gail,

Organized, moi? Not a chance. I do this to avoid doing things like housework :) And it still took me nearly a month to get around to it!

Geoffrey did all the scanning (my excuse is the scanner is connected to his machine, not mine). Since the website is mine, I did all the website stuff.

We have a slide projector but can't find a carousel for it (yup, organized all right :):):) ), so we haven't been able to see the slides well enough to decide which ones we want to take the trouble to scan. Maybe some day I'll get the page finished!

I can't wait to see your photos though - I wish we'd had the presense of mind to bring our camera to the BBQ, too.

Susan

Jake,
Would it be ok for me to grab the photo out of the archives that shows Geoffrey and I at the party cam, and put it on my site?

Susan

Certainly, but please follow the rules at http://www.BonaireWebCams.com/FAQ.html in terms of providing credit for the picture source.

Thanks!

Jake

Another chime for the quality of your pics! Really excellent shots -- and I found it easy to get around your site. The descriptions for the shots I had looked at turned pink after they'd been viewed.

I thought you were wearing a great shirt in the first on-land shot of you I saw, but then realized it's fantastically beautiful tattoo art!

Look forward to your written trip report!

Darlene, Nancy, Virginia, thanks for the votes of confidence! Work has been very busy and I've barely had 10 minutes a day to get my Bonaire webcam fix, let alone write a trip report. Hopefully this weekend.

In all fairness to Cecil, I took his critique of the page to heart and made the page navigation a little less difficult. It used to have 70 little buttons that you'd push for each photo, and it was easy to forget where you'd been. I'm happier with the new format, too!

A funny thing: I'd told my father about it, and he called me up yesterday to tell me he'd looked at it, and saw "the drawing of the girl with big boobs". I knew *that* wasn't on the Bonaire page, so after some questioning I finally figured out that he'd clicked on one of the bottom buttons ("home" and "index"). I asked him if he was shocked, and he said, "No, I liked it! I just had forgotten that you could draw!"
