As always I am late in posting this , but anyway here goes, I will try to keep it short without leaving out too much.
We came to Bonaire having read an article in a dive magazine and before we knew it we had booked our trip.
when I say we it includes my wife and two children, both who at tyhe time were under two years of age.
We stayed in theLagoen hills Bungaloes, WOW absolutly fantastic is all I can say.
Now down to the important bit....... the diving.
Having taken a day to recover from the jet lag and screaming kids on the 17 hour trip(we came from ireland), I toured round all the dive centres I could find without knowing where I was going. I settled on joining up with the Dive Inn
who gave the most reasonable price and also the most flexible arrangements for me which was great as I couldn't abandon my family completly without the risk of certain divorce.
I met a bloke in these "chat rooms" by the name of Bas,I would recomend everyone should try to meet this guy as he showed me some excellent dive sites on the east coast.
As to the west coast I can't name a particular favourite dive site as they are all absolutly great.
the site I ended diving the most was however Chacahcah pier(opposite the Dive Inn)as thios was often the most convenient place to get a quick dive in. Don'tbe put off because like all the dive sites this is great you have everyything in one place, fish and coral.
towards the end of our stay I did one dive that will always be with me........ yes the windjammer.
Please choose your buddies very carefully for this as it is a bit on the deep side and requires deco stops, but considering the depth it was a very easy dive and a real eye opener to be able to see without torches at a depth of 60 m or 200ft.
I am looking foward to the time when I get back to Bonaire as I have made some great friends there, and just loved the whole attitude of the place. i wiush everyone that goes many happy days of diving.
all the best and hope to return soon

Thanks Jamie. Great report. What part of Ireland are you from? My family lives in Mayo and Sligo. My wife and I are going down in 2 weeks, and we are also staying at the Dive Inn. We have always stayed at the Divi, right next door, but we're giving the Dive a go. Again, thanks for the report.

Slainte,

Jim McPeak

Thanks Jamie, glad you had a great time. That's a long plane ride, but I would certainly go that far to see any place as nice as Bonaire! Hope you get to go again.

Thanks for the report, Jamie. Do you do any diving at all in Ireland? Or always someplace with warmer water [grin].

I'm Irish, too, but many generations ago some ancestor came to the U.S. - my maiden name is McPeak, and Jim on this board acquainted me with the locations of that family in Ireland.

So glad you and your family fell in love with Bonaire and that your dive experiences were good ones. Yes, Bas is a very special person. It was nice of him to help you out. He is always ready to help others and really enjoys his dives and snorkels.

Did your wife and kids enjoy the trip too? That is one long plane ride...you have more patience than I do! HOpe you return to Bonaire again soon....it is a very special place, indeed. Carole
