Saturday November 23rd – Saturday Night’s All Right!

We headed back to Buddy Dive and went to hang out on the dock and wait for our evening activity, a sunset sail on the Oscarina with Karen and Bas. Bas picked us right up from the pier at Buddy Dive in the tender (zodiac) and took us out to the Oscarina. The Oscarina is a beautiful craft with rich nicely varnished wood and comfy seats. Karen is a great soul who took great care of us. We watched the sunset into Klein Bonaire as we headed for our destination, a night snorkel at Andreas II.

Bas took Emi and I on our first ever night snorkel and what a wonderful experience it was. If I had known how cool it was to snorkel at night I would have done it years ago. Bas was a wonderful guide, first explaining what we see, how we would proceed and how to take care not to stress or disturb any of the creatures too much. Bas was amazing, showing us so many cool thing that I never had seen before. I think we were in the water for about an hour and it felt like 10 minutes because it was so fascinating. I was sorry that I had to get out of the water.

Next we had a wonderful dinner prepared by both Karen and Bas. Karen cooked her famous Caribbean Pumpkin Soup and Bas prepared his famous fish role. Both were delicious and so was the wine and flaming plantain desert.

What a great night, what a highlight to a vacation in Bonaire…

Coming up, more restaurant and snorkel site reviews and much more!

Bas took my husband on a dive at Lac Cai (too advanced for me). It was a wonderful dive, with over a dozen eagle rays, turtles, sharks, etc.
He's such a nice guy, and he really does know the sea well!

Scott, your report and photos are just great! Thanks for taking the time to post such detailed information. It means a lot to those of us suffering from PBD (hope your own case isn't too bad yet!)

Looks like our area is in for some wicked weather tonight and tomorrow... quite a contrast to balmy Bonaire! If the snow materializes as forecasted, I think I'll "escape" by looking at your photos many, many times!

Best regards, --Deborah

I agree, I’m not sure if this makes my Post Bonaire Depression better or worse or both!

Deborah, hopefully we will get some snow and I’ll have time to post more.

Thanks for your advice on BWI, it was a breeze. I’m so glad we took Air Jamaica, it was one of the better flying experiences I’ve had in quite some time. From the agents on the phone, to those in the airport and the flight attendants, everyone was courteous, helpful and friendly. It was certainly worth my extra 1 hour drive (each way) to avoid a 6 hour layover in San Juan in both directions and it was $150 cheaper per person. We even got stuck in Montego Bay on the way back, but I’ve been stuck 3 times in San Juan in the last 2 ½ years so it was a nice change of pace!
