Just sit right back and you’ll hear a tale.
A tale of a fateful trip…

Sorry wrong story, but it seemed like that at the start. We arrived at Newark airport and checked in at Air Jamaica Just in time to have our flight delayed, then cancelled due to Tropical Storm Lilly visiting Montego Bay. Getting our tickets refunded from Air Jamaica was a minor hassle, but not too bad. Being experienced Bonaire travelers we knew we could get the American Eagle flight from Puerto Rico in the late afternoon, and there are lots of ways to get to Puerto Rico. So with some scrambling for flights and baggage transfers, we, (and our luggage!), arrive in Bonaire at 8 PM instead of 2 PM. A major victory I think.

We stayed at the Divi, the first week in our timeshare, and the second week at the hotel. No problems with the reservations, but a small hassle getting the fridge in our room for the second week. After elevating the issue to senior management (Frtis), the problem was resolved.

Diving was great as always but the second week the Divi had 4 dive groups at the resort. This made things a bit crowded considering the volume of divers, but we were well accommodated. Four boats went out some mornings; I don’t know another dive operation on the island that could boast that.

Unlike other trip reports I read from the same week, we had no problems with vandalism of our rental car or any other crime related problems.

Staying the second week for Regatta was an excellent choice. Normally October is low season on the island, but the 3 or 4 times we have stayed through Regatta week we have really enjoyed the partying in town.

We appreciate the posts from the Bonaire talkers, and would like to give a big shout out to Kelly Lott for recognizing Sue on the Reef cam.

Thanks for the report & the great pics John & Sue.
I'll definitely visit your site.
And way 2 go: don't let a "minor" set-back bother u all the trip. •••• happens, the fun one has 2 create 4 himself.

Great pictures and story, John. Nice web page, I like the slide show option. Good thinking at the airport, I've also heard the thing to do is use the phone at that moment. It's quicker than waiting in line.
