Hi,

I should start by saying that I am not sure which topic I should post this under, but moderators re-direct me if need be.

I am headed to Bonaire in a week and I am looking for a place to meet singles over 40.

I am looking for some conversation, maybe dinner and drinks, and maybe a little dancing (preferably to reggae or dance hall, but I will take what I can get, lol).

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Hi Bryan.

Unless you count Pachi's Place (where money changes hands for the company of a lady) there are no specific places for meeting people.

That said, walk in any bar, especially at happy hour & you will find many people to chat with. Unlike the UK where you can walk into a bar, sit at the bar for three hours & leave without anyone having spoken to you, Bonaire opens it's arms to people.

I have not walked into any bar, anywhere on the island be it in Playa or in a local area where someone has not engaged me in conversation within a few minutes.

Specifically, try City Cafe, happy hour starts at 5.30 and the place is bustling. Buddy Dive has a managers rum punch night every Friday at around 5.00pm. Everyone is welcome, there is free rum punch & live music is playing.

Hope that you have a great time.

Antony...

Thanks Anthony, sounds like what I am looking for. I'm not really looking for a swinging singles vacation (I'd go to Jamaica or St. Lucia for that, lol), just some time away from my kids and some pleasant conversation, while I am there.

You'll be fine hovering downtown, between Havana, Paradise Moon, Karel's, City & Mona Lisa. Dancing options are kinda limited-I wish there was Reggae or Dancehall played--but it's more euro-techno. Sometimes City Cafe will have a more latin style band playing, but, it is a late night crowd for that-11pm - 2am.

I love latin and live music is really my thing. Techno is ok late at night after a few drinks ;)

Thanks to all for pointing me in the right direction. My bags are packed and I arrive early on Saturday.
