As many people have so often stated, the lure of Bonaire is inexplainable. Once again we had an amazing time from start to finish. A few bumps but nothing major and certainly nothing to even make me wipe the smile off of my face! I have been visiting Bonaire since 1986 and this was my kids 3rd trip to the island.

Getting there: AA/AE from LAX to SJU to BON. Everything went smoothly, arrived and departed on time at all points and NO lost or late luggage! We did have many hours in San Juan and opted not to leave the airport but hang out in the Admirals club (I was travelling alone with my 10 and 6 year so I went for easy convenience).

The club in LAX is very spacious and very comfy. they have showers, food, bar, tv room, music area and a kids play area. San Juan is also nice (I feel bad saying this but the airport is so, so...tacky that the admirals club was such a pleasant respite!)they have an adults only area, tv, light snacks and drinks and a very clean restroom! So all in all this part of the trip was fine. One small mystery...my daughters snorkel was missing and in it's place was a mens dress shirt, brand new still in the package!

Rental car: We rented from Budget (arranged by Michael Gaynor) and we had a Terios which was a mini SUV sort of thing. It was comfortable and fit 4 and lots of luggage! It was $280.00 for ten days and was brand new. We returned it with out any issues as I have read here from others. The car was thoroughly checked over before and after renting and all was just fine.

Accommodations: We have a time share at Divi so that is where we stayed. We were greeted very nicely when we arrived and went to our room to find a very nice welcome back note from Sara with a fresh baked batch of cookies! That's hospitality and a simple gesture to make guests feel welcome and wanting to return! Thank you Sara! The room had new furniture and new stove, kitchen cabinets and fridge. the bathroom had not been re-done yet but it was very clean and the beds were more comfortable than in the past so I am guessing they had recnty replaced the mattress.

I just rec'd a call that I have to return so I will do part 2 later....

Yup, it was in my dive bag with all of our gear. I guess someone had one too many shirts and needed a snorkel! LOL

Regarding the change of snorkel for shirt...I think this happens when they are doing security checks. Years ago, I ended up with one extra tennis shoe in my stuff, and missing a small inexpensive camera and a few other odd items. This was before 9/11, but I got the feeeeeeeling that they had dumped my stuff out to check it....and were in a hurry to repack...some stuff was in my bag, some stuff went to the adjacent bag being scrutinized..... or it went to the TSA person's duffle. ????

Gotta wonder, if in the fray of checking stuff, they don't just throw things into any-ole-suitcase. Oh well.

Jan, after thinking about it, that's what i was wondering, if they were checking bags and dumping stuff all over and just throw stuff back in.RA, was your bag tagged that it had been checked?

Or, maybe they rifle through the bags to steal stuff and just throw stuff back in in a hurry so they don't get caught...

None of our bags were tagged as being checked. We kind of thought it was funny but Rianna lost her favorite snorkel!
