This is our third trip to wonderful Bonaire. We were there Aug. 9-16 with the Handicapped Scuba Association. The trip would not be the same without stopping at Pappadeaux Seafood Restaurant at Houston’s Bush Intercontinental Airport. After a long red-eye flight to Bonaire, we arrived and checked in at the Divi Flamingo Resort. After checking out our wonderful ocean front room, we got right into the water with orientation and our checkout dive. After the first day things were all routine; eat breakfast, dive, dive, eat lunch, dive, sometimes a fourth dive, happy hour, dining out, sleep then repeat. Thank God for Nitrox! Dining out was the second best event of the day. Papaya Moon Cantina, Richard’s, Mona Lisa, Donna Giorgio’s, Casablanca were all restaurants we visited. We visited some of the restaurants three years straightt and they never failed to impress us.

We did encounter one issue at the Authentic Indonesian Kitchen restaurant called Louise’s. We ordered two of the Rice Table specials for four people, which was a sampler platter for two for $30 US dollars. My wife does not like spicy food and only nibbled. When the bill came, they charged us $30 each or a total of $120 US dollars. We were told that there was a miscommunication between the new waitress and the manager did not correct the error. Whatever the case might be, I did not feel that we received $120 dollars worth of food. 

With that one exception our trip was great. The Divi Flamingo, the Divi Dive Shop, The Dive Masters, the restaurants and the Bonaire people were all the best. I would recommend this trip to anyone, even if you are in a wheelchair like myself.
