We left San Francisco on Sunday evening on AA with no problems. I scheduled the flight so we would have the longest part of the layover in San Juan. We had time to leave the airport for a little while. We went to the fort (El Morro) and saw a little bit of old San Juan and headed back to the airport. The last leg of the flight to Bonaire was only half full so we got started a little early and landed early.
We stayed at Bel Mar this trip and were very happy with our place. The rooms were nice and clean, the kitchen was well equipped and everyone was very helpful. We spent a lot of time on the patio enjoying the view, the birds, and the sunsets. We didn’t eat out very much because it was so easy to cook. We went to Donna and Georgios, Pasa Bon Pizza, Richards (for a birthday dinner) and Bobby Jans for take out. All were very good.
We had our diving with Buddy dive through Bel Mar. It was really nice being able to get tanks at either end of the island. We also did several dives from Buddys dock and a boat dive. We had 2 great weeks of diving. We saw just about everything we looked for. We finally found frog fish by ourselves. We went looking off the Buddy dock and found a pair of frogfish. A little distance away we found a 2nd pair. A few days latter we found 2 (one at a time) and on the last day our daughter found one at Angel City. We didn’t find any octopus, but we saw so many varieties of shrimp and crabs we had never seen before. All dives are good dives but our favorites were Karpata, Angel City and the Lake. We also enjoyed our Salt Pier and Town Pier dives. This was our first time at town pier since the rule changes. It was much nicer than the old way with several boatloads of people getting in each others way. Our divemaster was able to keep us away from the other group and with only 10- 12 people altogether it wasn’t crowded.
Both Dad and Daughter were diving with a camera. This was daughters 1st time with a camera. I think she did well. Dad’s pictures aren’t ready to post (we are remodeling a bathroom) but daughter put hers in an album. Unfortunately daughter’s camera flooded about halfway through the trip.

Sadly our trip came to an end and we had to get back on the plane. We had an uneventful flight home. We are enjoying the photos and looking forward to our next trip.

Nice photos LL. Some were nice & clear.
Bel mar has always been a favorite of ours also.
That's a sharptail eel, no snakes on or in the waters of Bonaire (at least not to my knowledge).

nice! I want to watch again so I can try to better read the captions, they seemed to fly by. . . many very good pictures. What camera did your daughter use, and did she use strobe(s)? You guys must be really good to find so many frog fish !

She was using an older Olympus with a FL 120 flash. The land shots were taken on her little camera. She hasn't learned to process pictures on the computer yet so those are almost all untouched. My husband did process a few and you can tell which ones he did. He also took one of the shots. You can pick that one too. He was using the same camera, but he has more experience.
I think she knows it is not really a snake. She was putting this together for her friends, there are lots of typos too. But I have to laugh at her sense of humor. She sat at her desk for a few hours and did it all on her own. Finding frog fish was really exciting for her and she didn't know how to tell any of her friends so it would mean something, they don't know what any of this stuff is. She thought the pictures would help them understand.
