I'm a little late in posting, sometimes I figure people just don't want to read these anymore, then I see how many people reply to the trip report posts, I figured I'd throw my 2 cents worth in.

This was our third trip to Bonaire in a row. We stayed at Buddy Dive for the third time. We find them friendly, helpful and very reasonably priced. The dive shop is under new management and we found them very cohesive and well organized. My partner had a cold and couldn't dive, but I did my standard two resort dives and had a marvelous time, as always. And this year my resort dive will count towards my PADI certification! So, one of these days, we'll finish off the job. Meanwhile, it's kind of nice being led carefully around by a divemaster, keeping you from having a worry at all.

This was the first year we managed to make it up to the Park and it was well worth the trip. The ruggedness of the coastline is breathtaking. Some of the dive sites were a little rough for snorkeling, but the sight-seeing and bird-watching was fun. We found a lovely little semi-private beach at Waycaya (after Playa Funchi, before Slagbaai, not marked on most maps we looked at)...it was kind of tough to climb down to, but great coral, the biggest parrotfish I've ever seen (weird coloring too...he had orange on him) but anyway, it was nice, sandy, small, private, very cool.

Restaurants: Chibi-Chibi (at the Divi), It Rains Fishes, Capriccios, Rendevous, Kon Tiki (Lac Bay), Dock of the Bay, Amadeus. We can find something we like on most every menu...they were all pretty good. We always go to Capriccios and Dock, most of the others were new to us this year....there are some from previous years that we prefer not to go to again, but I won't go in to that! :)

We rented out truck from Total Car Rental, Chris at Caradonna had set that up...she, by the way, is the best Caribbean travel agent anywhere....it was nice having a car the whole time. In previous years, we'd only have one part of the week....though that helped with the exercise regimen! :)

Chatted with Linda Richter for a bit, it was nice to meet some state-siders who have been lucky enough to relocate and earn a living in such a wonderful place. I had to chuckle at her jeans and sweatshirt though....after this New Hampshire winter (Linda's a NH native too) we wear as little as possible while on Bonaire....it's all relative though isn't it? :)

Feel free to e-mail with any questions.....we can't say enough about our experiences on Bonaire...it's a peaceful, safe, clean, wonderful place.

We were at the Plaza from 2/9 through 2/16 with our little band of interpid travelers from NH. I didn't know Linda was a Granite Stater...now I'm sorry we didn't look her up. Our group is from the North Country...Franconia, Littleton, and Whitefield. Just curious...where in NH are you from?

We live in Lebanon, I'm originally from closer to the seacoast. I know there is a couple from Bow who post here regularly as well, Clay and his wife. Well it has always been said that New Hampshirites have good taste. That's certainly the case in choosing Bonaire as a favorite destination! Maybe we should coordinate better next time and have a NH contingent...(okay we'll try to get Tom and company from Victory Sports in Vermont and call it a northern NE contingent!)

Vanessa, nice report. Every trip is a different experience on some level, so I keep reading the reports. Your comments about the Park were interesting. And relevant. We're going for our fourth trip to Bonaire, and keep postponing going inside the Park. We've put it higher on the list of priorities, at least.

Vannessa & Kelly >>Maybe we should coordinate better next time and have a NH contingent<<
Sounds good to me. We already have reservations for May 2002, but I don't know the exact dates. I will have to get them from Lee after she wakes up.

Kelly, you can come too even if you don't live in NH.
Clay

Kelly, You are welcome. In addition to your sparkling personality and jovial disposition, I figure you are probably good for an Amstel or two so it's probably worthwhile inviting you (BG).

New Hampshire people unite!
Born and raised in Pembroke. My parents and grandparents (and further) born and raised in the Auburn, Chester, Derry area.
My kids both born in Derry.
We'll have to make an exception for Jake. He gets points for marrying me (in NH) and living there for about 10 years.

Did you all know, you can read the Concord Monitor on-line?
