Dear BTers,

I would be termed a true lurker if I didn't eventually file a trip report on our Bonaire adventure of December 26, 2001 - January 5, 2002. So here goes...sort of a condensed version. Please feel free to ask questions.

AJ from O'Hare to MoBay. Good deal on ETOH in the duty free store in MoBay. No problems with AJ but the airport is bit old in the tooth.

Stayed at Joe Bird's house. Kinda old and a bit funky but lots of room, beautiful patio, garden and deck. Two doors down from Belmont Apts and their affiliated dive shop. The dive shop was great, sorry I've forgotten their name.

I teamed with a friend I met on BT and another fellow and we dove every morning while my wife and daughter slept in. The diving is just wonderful and the whole concept of shore diving, the control of your group size and setting the agenda.....folks this is what makes Bonaire a truly great place to dive.

Food. We simply had one good meal after another. We liked Le Wok the best, Rains Fishes, Caprichio....just good food. We visited the ice cream shop everyday for a treat.

What else to do? Lot's, just drive around and get out of the car and see what their is to see. There were no crowds, no lines no competition for much of anything....sort of the opposite of Disney, everything is very real, unprogramed and just there for the enjoyment.

New Year's eve,......can you say fireworks as big as your hand, the one you used to have?

Jake and Linda, thanks for the great New Year's day party (I helped prepare the dry rub for the chicken), we enjoyed meeting the teacher, Wigini (?) and the BTers and local crew. Mostly thanks for BT, it allowed me to meet my diving friends (Dan, Val and John).

Folks, Bonaire is just a wonderful place to visit and you must go. My only regret was not catching up with Ann Phelan...
