I don't normally do trip reports. Usually, I just use my expiriences on Bonaire to respond to posts on the board. Lately, however, I have been sensing a disturbance in the force and my instincts are telling me that doing this trip report is the the only way to make it stop. So, here we go. I've got PBD - Bad.................................
Where was I? Oh yeah, speaking of the force, the force was truly with me on this, my 6th trip to Bonaire. There is alot of underwater stuff to see on Bonaire but it seemed especially abundant this trip - why, I don't know. Should we start from the beginning? Okay, I agree, we should:

Travel: American via San Juan both ways; for you first timers I would recommend you give yourself at least 2 hours in San Jan on the way back. It took us a while to get our luggage and get through customs. Other than that, no problem mon'.

Lodging: The Belmar. This rocked. We are going there again next time. When I lst saw the house reef, I thought, keeping in mind there is no such thing as a bad dive on Bonaire, average at best. Wrong. The rubble off the docks was very cool with many, many eels. In fact, there was a yellow eel that acted like he would have no problem taking on my brother-in-law should he want to come and get some. That eel scared the crap out of me when he came in directly behind and underneath my postion in the water.

Dining: Casablanca for the excellent Rib Eye, Pasa Bon for the best pizza in the world (twice), Chibi Chibi for water front dining, Rib Factory for the great ribs, Stiflers for tasty chicken and ribs and the Lost Penguin for breakfast. That pretty much covers it. Not a bad meal the whole time.

Diving: The best I've ever seen it on Bonaire.

The Lake = Double Reef

Fish Hut South = Bait Ball w/Big Ole
Barracuda.

Invisibles = Ray

Angel City = Another Ray

Hidden Beach

English Garden

Red Slave = Had to be
there!

The Cliff = Several Tarpon - one of which
was eyeing my sister-in-law
like it was considering her
for lunch.

Oil Slick Leap = 130 Ft - Ray @ 150 Ft!

Thousand Steps = Totally worth the climb!

Epilogue: Stay tuned for Part 2: The Pics!
(assuming I can figure out how to
post pics).

.........and the adventure continues..............

Wow, is it possible the diving could get any better?
We stayed at Belmar last year & enjoyed it very much. This year in Feb we'll be down the block at Belaire (always like to try a different place).
The lake, oil slick & Karpata are my 3 favorite shore dives. Look forward to seeing the pics.
