Hello all,
My girlfriend and I have booked a trip for Bonaire in November. Scubadiving and flyfishing for bonefish are on the agenda for the week. No problems finding information about dive spots, but finding information (access and fly selection) for the bonefish fishing is another matter! No luck at all. Could anyone share their experience with bonefishing on Bonaire? Any info at all would be helpful. Many thanks,
....colin

Colin
Don't get your hopes up for the flyfishing...the areas where the bonefish be can be extremely windy

My husband went fishing at Lac Bay- or rather where the windsurfing is. He stayed away from the beach where most of the windsurfers where. He just used a jig I think. He caught a few bone fish and had a rather large something on until the line broke. We sat next to a gentlemen on the plane home that paid a guide lots of money with no luck. I say- bring you own pole and aqua socks and enjoy! Your wife can relax at the beach while you fish. Chair rental was just $5.

Colin,
I'm about to go down and try my luck. On Bonaire for 14 days. Have managed to find two companies which guide. Will let you know how I make out. As for the "something that was on then broke off"--chances are it was a diver---just kidding. Waters have bone fish up to 10 pounds and permit. Heavy trade winds challenge lite fly tackle. I am taking down a 7 wt rod with extra backing---RPL sage which is stiff.
tight lines
Dave
