We were on Bonaire during the first three weeks of August. As a family of snorkelers, we had a wonderful time. I could not say, what our favorite sites were, I'll think about that, and report about it later this week.
We went out sailing with Dee en Ulf of the Woodwind, and I would certainly recommend them. Dee is a very good guide, and a lovely person. Sailing to Klein Bonaire is só relaxing! We also made a night snorkle with Dee. This is also a must-do!
We snorkeled with Renee Leach, too. The trip to the Sorobon Reef was great! We saw many special things while snorkeling with her. The good thing of going with a guide (René or Dee) is, that you get to see more details. They see things, you would certainly miss, when you were on your own.

An other thing: we also visited two caves. Exiting! We snorkeled in one of them. An experience we would never forget.

One should really visit Washington-Slagbaai. Although the dive- and snorkelsites are mostly devastated bij Ivan, I would recommend Wayaka II. Still a very nice place to swim, picknick and snorkle.

We used the Cultimara for our shopping, but also More for Less, on Kaya Nikiboko North. Much cheaper, and you'll find everything you need. Still, a tray of 24 cans Polar Beer should be caught at Cultimara.

Friday night at Bongo Beach is nice: First there is Happy hour from 5.30 to 6.30 pm, and then there is a bbq, for only $10 pp. Nice and easy.
Sunday afternoon at Lac-Cai is great. Locals visit Cai from 2.00 pm, and have a beer together. A local group sings mariachi-music. Very relaxing.

We'll have to save money for a few more years to repeat this holiday, but we will certainly come back!

Sounds like you had a great time.

I'm glad to hear they are doing the local thing at Lac-Cai. I'm sure you enjoyed the music and company.
