Our 10th trip back to Bonaire and never fail to be charmed by this island,,its diving..flora and fauna..friendly people..Bonaire has what we need for our vacation down time.Flight on AA gave us more leg room and cheapest price in years but longer lay over in San Juan...good time to start to unwind and get into the island time mode. Apartment at Island rentals Bon Villas always clean, spacious and affordable waiting for us...Nettys car rental our fun to drive Suzuki carryall minivan, we call it the divemobile perfect for carting tanks and salty gear....usually dive with Sand Dollar but interupted by auction politics so went to Wannadive for airfills and vey happy with staff but not the driveway...get a turn around down there ..air pick-up at top of drive easy enough though...did 47 great and safe dives..viz ok for that time of year..finally got in Jeff Davis site from shore, missing oil slick leap ,,hope they fix the ladder...good diving down south, many turtles, rays, saw 2 queen trigger, a new eel for us the reticulated eel, and a mantis shrimp...topside the donkeys are looking much healthier than in the past, but not happy to see the development of shoreline down south, there goes the neighborhood! misquitos were bad because of the rain, but bought misquito net at Tong Fong store and made a romantic bed cover in the process..plus spray with Bygon up in the corners of the rooms..trips to Goottomer, Serra Largo, Cai and watching sunsets at windsock with our own "happy hour" our favorites..make sure you leave plenty of time to check in for return if on AA flight as they go thru your check in luggage and have to remove any locks or cable ties beforehand..you can put locks and ties on after the check...this all takes time ..we checked in @ 5:15 am for the 7 am flight and then had our picnic breakfast over at Windsock beach rather than wait at the airport..good time to say "ay-oh " good by to the shoreline..see resturant report under Dining, and dive report ..photos to follow

Hi, sounds like a great trip. My wife and I are going for our first time on the 17th of this month. We like to dive but are not real expierenced. Do you have any tips for us.
What about all this B&E of cars we have been hearing about, we have rented a pickup truck do you think we would be better severed with a min van? Can wait to see your pics.

Thanks for the great trip report! You got to see two Queen triggers!! That's great!! I can't beleive that their siteings are so rare in Bonaire and, if I remember correctly, their have been 4 seen since January that have been posted on this board. That is way cool and I hope they are hear to stay because they are so beautiful!!! I waited three years before I saw my first one this past January.

Brad and Mary Jane,

The southern sites provide a bit easier access-Windsock being one of the easiest. No matter about what you rent in terms of theft-if they want it, they'll take it. Just leave nothing of value in the car. We have never had a problem, and even witnessed a security patrol car way up by Nukove (which is very isolated) patrolling the site. I recommend Bon Bini Divers as a dive shop-that's where I finished my certification.

You will LOVE Bonaire. We are headed to Provo in Turks and Caicos early tomorrow morning. I can't wait!
