So, after successfully stripping off thongs on the World Wide Web, and after a great lunch of beer, burgers and beer, what other zany situations could our heroes get into? Well, not much...but we were looking forward to our evening at Gibi's.

About Gibi (pronounced Jibby). He has a great house on (insert address here...I forgot)

6

He used to own a restaurant nearby, but has downsized to his house. He has refined his culinary expertise in France, and you can not find a more amicable and gracious host. Together with his wife, they treat the guests to a warm, entertaining evening...I do not think anyone could possibly leave hungry. Gibi's dishes are relkatively simple, stick to your ribs hearty fare such a stews seafood, fish and such. He makes kickass spicy sauces which any hot food lover (like myself) will admire. Anyway, we arrived just before dusk (6:30) and were welcomed by Gibi After presenting Gibi with the Flames flag in we went.

8

We were joined by other travellers and the banquet began.

7

The evening was fantastic...Sheryl and I had the garlic shrimp I can't remember what J&J had. It was great...we subsequently went back to Gibi's on wednesday...I had the chicken stew (fantastic), Joe had the goat stew and wahoo....he said it was great...I can't remember what John and Sheryl had on Friday. The evening got even better because we met Liz and Ed...hailing from New Jersey, they now are living our dream.,...they purchased the Golden Reef Inn and are moving to Bonaire to live in paradise. many of you know Liz through BT, and her and Ed are a fun a couple as they come...Ed is a hunter and I did get his killer instincts going with tales of my deer hunting experiences in Alberta. In any case, we invited Ed and Liz to a BBQ we were going to have on Saturday (more on that later). It is important to note that Liz is not the "Keeper of the Thongs"....we presented her with the purple black stripe (grrrr) that evening.

13

Those of you who want to behold the thong must contact Liz.

As well, we began a new tradition at Gibi's as Gibi hoisted my Flames flag for posterity....I am including photos of Joe and John signing it (on Friday) and the final product (taken on Friday as well)

You may notice that there were other flags next to "The Flames Flag" (the official first flag). It took exactly two fdays for a Clemson (sp.?) Tigers flag and an Aruba flag to be pinned up...The birth of a new tradition....if you are planning on going to Gibi's, be sure to take a small favorite flag for posting...I look forward to seeing what it's like next year.

Next - Flying Fish and Frying Fish

That is so wonderful that Gibi is allowing the flags to be flown. (if it were MY house...well....maybe...but then, I don't cook wonderful food for the masses at my place. My family is lucky to get Mac and cheese from a box!!) I'm sure he is relieved that you didn't start the grand tradition of bringing in a signed THONG to hang up!! Can't wait for the next installment!!

I agree Freddie...there is small, medium, large, xlarge, xxlarge and Virginian Large...remember that old western show "The Virginian"? For those of us that are that old, can you imagine James Drury, sitting on his horse, overlooking the wild west in a purple with black stripes (grrr) thong? Shudder.

Thanks for that visual, Cam. Now I must retreat to shove a hot poker into my brain repeatedly until it is erased.

Sigh....back to work...I have a meeting downtown...I also have meetings tomorrow, so Part 4 may have to wait until Friday....thanks for all the great comments...this is really fun...like writing a "What I Did On My Vacation" report for school, except without the grade anxiety (although you guys are a tough bunch :-) I dare not make a mistake with all of your drawing tools (Mare) and wild imaginations, etc.)

I've been really enjoying your report, Cam - thanks! That thong is a thing to behold!

Does anyone remember Divine, from the John Waters films? I think that thong HAD to have been made for Divine. :-)

Yes we grow them big in Virginia. Of course Cam lied to me on the web about his thong size so I bought his to fit him. As for joe's whistle, well I don't want to toot his horn (whistle) , but he was a good sport about everything.
Anyone needing thongs, K mart has them in 5 packs in assorted colors. Liz now has the PURPLE Thong and is on display at her place. So Mare what do you think of the thong outing?
John

Cam...et...al...JB...once again, I have tears streaming down my face...Blueharley, for years there was a joke about wearing purple hats and purple thongs on the cams...the first to actually do it were kelly and I...although, we left ours ON and finished our dive with them (and then wondered why some guy was behind us following us down the reef)...LOL!
thong

I love the flag idea...I'm now trying to think of one I can bring down...very cool Caminator!

Cam, Reading your report is so much fun. I am so grateful you guys stepped up to the thong challenge and did such a remarkable job that I have retired mine. My Tiara however, sits on my dresser (which causes my wife to worry), ready to be packed at a moments notice.
Tom

Cam, I have great pics for the BBQ if needed. Oh Gibi's Address is Kaya Hulanda (Holland in Papiamento). Tom, you will have to bring your thong down next time to retire it. We are building a "Thong Board" Retired thongs to be placed there. Oh and I have a "tiara" for you, waiting on Bonaire. I'm wearing it in Karin's trip report http://www.oldbonairetalk.com/newsgroup/messages/1022/213500.html?1109355125

Oh my! What an exciting day to catch up on!
Great shot of Cynde and Kelly in their thongs and purple hats.
Cynde and Kelly did it first.

My 'thongs' are of the photo shop type (thanks to Freddie who is great at alterations in photo shop). In the shot of Kelly and me, She IS wearing a thong but we needed to color it up a bit because of the depth. At the time, I had difficulty painting because I was laughing so hard.

As for John's comment about thong size:
You know what they say about guys with big feet?
Big SHOES.

tee hee

I am relieved to know that Liz now has some art work to hang on her walls at the Golden Reef, perhaps to be renamed, the Golden )?Assorted Colored) Thong Inn! :-) I remember the fateful day when Kelly and Cynde started the tradition and only regret that the thongs in Cahlifooorneea come in a size 2!

In Alberta we have a saying.."If it aint Alberta, It aint beef".....I think a new saying should be "If it aint Virginian, It aint thong"....It could start a whole new industry...John...you should be seeking investors for "John's House of Thongs (and Flesh Coloured Whistles)" :-) :-)

Liz, I am so looking forward to the retirement ceremony. My wife will be glad to have it gone from our house:-{)} Hope Ed has some nails handy, because tacks won't hold that thing up. LMAO!!!

Regarding that pretty fuzzy pink tiara of yours, I will wear it "with honor" um, no that's not it, how about "filled with joy", nope, thats not right, maybe, "with pride" no, HEY, I got it, I will gladly wear your tiara, if you wear mine. Is it a deal? O.K. good. Now I have to find a shirt that won't clash with pink;-{)}
