First off... we were on the streetcam this morning and nobody posted us :(

Ok. On with the report.
Arrived Monday on Air Jamaica from Boston... no problems making the connection. Checked in at the Divi and had to change rooms. The rooms to the south end of the resort are close to some nonstop barking dogs just to the south of the property. 2nd room much better.
Had a very good dinner at the divi restaurant, Chibi Chibi. Special of the day Wahoo was excellent. Very good potato and veggie side dish.

Managed to forget our snorkels and masks... don't know where I put them other than in my gear bag. After trying several shops, we found the shop at the Carib Inn. Very good selection and prices. Very helpful having us try on the masks. Definitely recommend if you need any equipment.

Good breakfast buffet at the Divi. Ask for an omelet and they special make it for you.

Snorkeled today of the beach at the Divi. Saw a barracuda just hanging out shallow.

Dove off the boat pier to check my weights. Stayed around 45-50 ft for 1/2 hour. Saw a spotted moray, trumpetfish, parrotfish and a sunken boat. Diving freedom... dove by myself. New shorty worked out good with 78 F water.

Arrived at the jewelery store just as they closed for the 2 hr siesta... what timing on my part :)

Had dinner at Richards... wahoo was very good... chibi chibi's was slightly better. Lisa had the fillet mignon which was excellent. I like how they bring the menus out... on a big 2ft sign :)

No good dessert for Lisa... she is hooked on the chocalate cake at the Chibi Chibi.

It rained overnight and a little this morning. Dinners in the open on the water might require a light jacket.

Purchased a month internet access at Detuin... so I'll keep ya posted throughout.

Off to bed... 2 tank boat dive in the morn.

Ken and Lisa
See everyone that is on island on Sat. for the bbq.

PS.. Linda... saw your keys in your front door this morning, but didn't want to wake you up.
Jake... I think you are back tomorrow... let me know if you need any help with the reefcam.

Hey Ken, you did get posted. Don't ask me why the thread is called Bonaire UFOs, under WebCams, but that's where you appeared. Unless you have look-alikes down there...

A MONTH!?! I'm green now!

Hi Ken,

we will arrive Sunday evening. We might meet for a beer or a dive.

I manage to leave my keys out there a couple times a year. Fuzzy brain - not enough coffee.

Jake flies in tonight (Wednesday). I think he has the replacement cable in his luggage. He claims one bag is 68 pounds before shopping. My coffee beans got left behind in NH to catch the next boat shipment - no room in the luggage. We have my son's birthday and a family wedding on Bonaire this month so my coffee lost out to presents and decorations and of course, that silly ReefCam UW cable you all seem to want so badly.

Ken, what is the lastname on your room at Divi so Jake could call you if he wants help?

That bag was 68 pounds before shopping, but after taking a couple of things out of it! It topped out over 70 pounds when Jake had first packed it. I pity the airline folks who have to lift that one... (Jake didn't look too happy holding it on the scale yesterday morning, either, come to think of it...)

Ken and Lisa:
What a great way to post a trip report...we'll be waiting for the day by day! We are envious!
Check out the tarpon at Divi, at 75 feet, under the moorings od the dive boats---they were hanging out there in late January...and last year too for that matter. I think they have taken up permanent residence.
And if you have the time, clean off Ralph's memorial at the base of the big anchor under the blue sailboat.
Have a great time!

Sue,
I like the fun flavored coffees like Hazelnut and French Vanilla. But I'm down to my last pound of regular Dunkin Donuts coffee too. My dad had sent that one down. He and I are comrades in the cups since everybody else would rather have tea.

Faith,
You should have seen me packing him to go with all those ReefCam cables and gear he sold on Ebay. Neither bag was full and both were over 65 pounds each. I take it he does have the replacement cable for the ReefCam. He hasn't actually said it.

Niki... you are right... I was a UFO... Me alone around 8something. Lisa and I were there around 11 something.

Peter: sounds good... we are at the divi.

Linda... room is under Ken Rutt... in and out all day... if he can leave a message in the afternoon/eve. I can be there the next day.

Robert... I saw the memorial... didn't know what it was. I'll be playing with the new cam off the divi pier...so I'll find it again. No tarpon yesterday.

Gotta go for now... line at Detuin... will do today's report later.

Linda, yes, he does have the cable -- it's in the 68 lb. bag (part of why it's so heavy... :)

Ken,

This so cool that you are doing this daily trip report! I had forgotten that you are already there!! Next week, we'll be there too!!

Linda,

My husband and I live in the Pacific Northwest, where there's a coffee shop on every corner(which I think is the real reason my hubby moved here). I'll be sure to bring some fun flavored coffee along for you!

Danielle

Danielle,

Linda misunderstood what I left behind - I did bring her a 12oz bag of Hazelnut flavored whole-bean coffee. I left the Swiss Chocolate Almond flavor behind for a later shipment though...

Not sure what Linda wants, but I found myself becoming addicted to Tazo brand Chai (found it at Starbucks in Boston last week). Any of that you could bring would be wonderful!

Oh, and even with the HEAVY stickers all over my luggage, it made it to Bonaire last night along with me :-) Yeah!
