Just returned from one week (Feb.16-23) at our two-bedroom condo at Sand Dollar. It is wonderful to feel like you are at home when you are away. Waking up each morning to a beautiful view of the Caribbean is great. It is so captivating that one morning Joan forgot to open the door and walked right into the screen. No damage to screen door or Joan.

We flew Air Jamaica from JFK in New York both ways. On our return in Montego Bay when we arrived at the gate and showed our passports they said, “We’ve been looking for you.” I’m saying to myself, oh great. They tell us we are being upgraded to first class.

We arrived just in time to attend the Turducken party at Jake and Linda’s. It was a fun way to start the vacation and to meet so many people from Bonaire Talk.

The dive shop is operating smoothly, just grab a tank and walk right in. We hear that they are really close to getting the dock built.

Diving Bari reef right in front of Sand Dollar is always something special. We have logged well over 70 dives on Bari reef and love doing it again and again. It boasts the most varied fish life in the Caribbean. On this trip Alan saw a stingray and an octopus. The octopus was in only about eight feet of water so even the snorkelers could see it.

Also dove Windsock which is an easy shore entry for both divers and snorkelers.

Having a full kitchen is very convenient so we ate breakfast and lunch in the room everyday. We cooked in a few dinners. Went back to Lion’s Den, which is one of our favorites, Kirk always does a great job there. Capriccio’s is also another favorite and a must. We thought the food at It Rains Fishes was OK but the service was very slow the night we went. There are so many fabulous restaurants on Bonaire we just wish we had more time to eat out.

We look forward to returning to Sand Dollar in the summer.

Great report..ahhh..

Isn't dining waterfront the ultimate? I sit here dreaming of my restful nights spent overlooking the lovely sea. Hmm..I also LOVE Sera Largu at night.

Well, PBD has not set in..I was a mess the night before. The AA flight is too early. Somehow taking JM in the afternoon makes the return home tolerable. Oh well.

I head back in 45 days for what I hope is the final attempt to raise sponsor dollars for King of the Caribbean. Then who knows when. I do have the summer off so if anyone needs a house sitter??

Anyone??

Hi, Alan and Joan. It was great to see you at "Turducken", and I'm sorry that was the last time. Next year, I'll come visit you at SD. I'm into my last week here now --- and did my FIRST night dive last night at Bari Reef (with Diver Debbi and Adam, new BT friends). GREAT dive, and I was surprised how comfortable I felt. Debbi was a great buddy.

I'll do a trip report when I get home. Just had a wonderful Pasta, smoked salmon and cream sauce dinner at Gobey's. First time there, I'll be there again!

Alan & Joan,
Since this was our second year in your condo, we also kind'a felt at home there. And, especial thanks for the Amstel in the frig, that was especially nice after sitting at Flamingo for two hours waiting for our luggage to arrive on the extra added flight from San Juan.
Also, Josie got a tour of your condo; and lunch to help us use up some of the food toward the end of our stay.
