Hi everyone, my name is Lillian. I've been to Bonaire nine times now, but my most recent trip was the first one I ever ventured outside my condo. Why, you ask? I'm a teddy bear! My family, David, Janet, and Sarah, brings me to Bonaire every year, but this time, they decided to show me around the island. This is the story of my adventure. Here I am in Newark, leaving on the Air Jamaica flight at very early in the morning. This is my iPod, and it's really great on long plane trips. Once we land at Sangster Int'l Airport, I make a stop at Margaritaville for a snack. I've landed in Bonaire... but it's a bear to deal with all the luggage! I made some iguana friends at the BelMar apartments. They're very friendly if you give them lettuce. Getting a tan is always important. Snorkeling is one of my favorite hobbies. I love to see all the fish! Even they seemed to be surprised to see a bear in the tropical waters. My view from BelMar. Visiting the salt works with Sarah, and then posing for a picture in the back of the pick-up. A beautiful sunset at the White Slave huts (I'm in the window!) The Willemstoren Lighthouse is a beautiful place to visit, and it's really huge! I'm only half the size of the yellow marker. Every bear should know how to shore dive, as well as identify fish. The Queen Mary 2 visited Bonaire during my stay. She's quite the large vessel. She was visible from across the island, past Lac Bay! The Cultimara is a great air-conditioned place to stock up on food. Here, I get a ride in the cart and grab some Pringles. Fireworks at midnight!! Kayaking. Here, I'm hanging out with the giant iguana outside the airport. Meeting Santa! I spent all my mornings at Sea and Discover, http://www.seandiscover.com , to learn about the amazing marine world with marine biologist Caren Eckrich. The program had kids young to teen, so I got to snorkel and learn with people (and bears, of course) my own age. Oh no! Our flight to Newark from Jamaica was delayed four hours! I'm passing the time in the terminal and buying lots of cigars and Bob Marley merchandise. I've had it. This four hour delay has gotten to me, so I relax with a beer at Margaritaville. When I get home, I look at a picture of the Bonairean sunset all the time to remind me of my amazing trip. Love, Lilly |
