All these trip reports- good and bad- led me to remember the other times that we have visited Bonaire- the first time (I think) we came in on a late flight and naturally our luggage didn't. None of it.(three pieces- we believe that it was taking a vacation in Aruba). By the time we lined up to report it the airport was closed!! NO taxis!! We ended up heading to Sand Dollar squished in an airport truck with the security guards (we were thinking we would have to sleep in the lounge all night.) Luckily security at SD had the key to the condo for us waiting....
And another time we brought our kids and a high school girl to watch them while we dived. We headed out to Pink Beach and I very carefully briefed this girl on the custom of topless sunbathing. (We are pretty conservative in the midwest.) Sure enough, we got there and a nice girl stood up- stripped to her skin - and put on her bathing suit. (OK- so technically she wasn't topless....) "Did you see THAT!!' My babysitter cried "She doesn't shave her armpits!!" (OK- so had another quiet talk about customs.) That was also the time that a manta the size of a car cruised along so close to the shore that you could see it. we were trying to get our gear on to follow it but I only got my head under water (while people were screaming OUT of the water- they thought that it was a shark or something.)- only a diver would run towards the 'danger'!! It was HUGE!!! I've never seen another like it in the area or so close to shore.....

Thanks for the laughs! I love that babysitter story! Each generation sures looks at everthing differently!
