Bill and Donna. Loved your pictures. We're going to Bonaire for the first time in September (and no, we're not going to be frightened off by the thread before you!!) and your photos just add to our excitement. By the way, what kind of camera did you use? I just got a small Olympus D-580-Z digital with a housing and I hope I can come back with images like yours!!

Thanks for sharing......Richard

Hi Guys--I don't normally comment on posts like these (live here, see this stuff all the time, etc), but I've got to say THANK YOU for taking the time & trouble to post your happy vacation pix. It's so nice to see this view of our 'under'side...
;-)

Thank you all for the kind comments, especially considering that these pictures had to be so reduced in size (<50 kb) to meet the site's requirements that they have lost some of their clarity and impact. The rig we were using is a Nikonos III (the '57 Chevy of U/W cameras!) with a YA-60 strobe, using Fuji ASA 100 and a 3:1 macro for the frog fish. The film was developed and hi-rez scanned to produce digital format for sharing/storage/self-printing.

When we return in October for coral spawning, we'll be armed with a tiny new Sony DSC T1 in a U/W case. I think you should do fine with the Olympus - I would recommend that you have at the very least a 4 megapixel digital so that your pictures will be as clear as possible and unpixellated at 8x10 reproduction.

Oh, and Ruth (you are the Ruth of KFC, aren't you?) - chicken makes a great lunch out at Margate - we add a baguette and some Gouda from Cultimara and a beverage and we are "livin' large" on the tailgate!

Good Day Goodwins

Thanks for the pics. Have to agree with Richard, after reading the previous thread, and considering our trip is only 10 days away, I was getting a little scared. But those beautiful pics remind me of just why we are traveling to see Bonaire.

Lorraine

Thanks guys! Well, if you see an exasperated looking curly red head, with freckles, around KFC, that's me, before a Polar. Same hair & freckles, less the stress, after a few...

IF I go to my office (which is above KFC), it's usually around 10-11am, till 6-ish, M-F (like to be home in time for Seinfeld at 6:30). If you're there during those hours, just ask my staff if I'm in my office-they'll call me & I'll come down. I keep swearing that I'll get to a BT night at Giby's too. One of these days!

We are going to try to make the BT at Giby's when we are in Bonaire. We really enjoyed it when we were in Bonaire in July. We'll be back the first of October...hope to see you then!!!!!
