Check it out! Long article on Bonaire in the latest issue (unfortunately not yet posted to Islands.com, keep checking). As a long-time subscriber, this is the first time I've seen so many (13) pages dedicated to Bonaire.

Jake: Are there still "problems" with the Trip Reports category being sent out to those of us who have checked off every possible category on the "automatic emailing list"? I don't seem to be receiving the Trip Report postings at home via email notificication. Just wondering.

Another question for you, too! Is there any way to determine just how "large" this group has grown since its inception? Seems to me as thought it has ten-folded in size since we first hit the "airwaves"!! It is simply amazing how many more participants we have enjoying your site now. Used to take me ten or fifteen minutes to "read" my email notifications......now it takes at least one hour.....have to read the email notifications and then refer to the site to "see" all of the wonderful photos folks have posted!! Do you have the data to reflect statistics on increased postings, etc.??? Thanks again to you and Linda for allowing us to enjoy and share this wonderful site......it is our "connection" to Bonaire 24/7 right at our fingertips! Ayo. Carole

Shelley,

A more detailed reference to the article,
please, for we uninitiated ones. On line?

Islands Magazine, Jan Feb 2001 issue. I checked the magazine's website (www.islands.com) last night and the latest issue posted was Dec 2000. I expect they'll post this issue soon. The author was Bruce Stutz and the photos were by Flip C(something). Sorry I don't have the issue in front of me.

Carole,

There shouldn't be any problems with receiving e-mails from Trip Reports postings if your User ID is configured to receive them (i.e. I've received e-mail copies of all the messages above).

Since you asked, this Board has almost 7000 messages, and nearly 1500 registered users, with an average of about 500 visitors a day (the Bonaire WebCams site has over 2000 visitors a day, while InfoBonaire, the official Bonaire Web site has about 1100 visitors a day, for comparison).

Jake

TKS, Shelley. Will look for it. Have family in
dive ops and other businesses on island.

Re: Islands Magazine, Jan Feb 2001 issue, my local magazine store is still displaying Dec 2000 issue, grrr.

Jake, what will you do for server space if all 1500 users get in on the photo frenzy? 8-o
And are the 500 visitors a day perhaps us 50 addicts searching for new messages 10 times a day?

Niki,
I think there are alot more people"listening" then we realize. The next time your on Bonaire, get into a conversation with another stranger and ask about this site, you'll probably find a few that recognize your name,(from other counties as well) we did, a little scary, but that's the perimeter of the web.Met some really nice people that way.I think there are people who just tune in every once in awhile or before they return just to catch up and others who are not so chatty like you and I and love the web-cam. There are people who just prefere to listen about Bonaire.Just an observation. Besides this is a pretty up group with the same thought about Bonaire I like that!

Island Magazine article is nice piece on Bonaire. In summary it talks about three things. It opens talking about Bonaire during Carnival, it then talks about bird watching and other nature activity and finally gets into the diving. It does get into other aspect as well and the photos are very good

Very nice piece in Islands magazine, if the Web-based version is anything to go by - it's now posted at http://www.islands.com/isljf01/bonaire.asp

The only thing missing is mention of the ReefCam, but then again, when we met Bruce Stutz (the author of the article) for lunch last March, the ReefCam wasn't quite live yet. Ah well, timing is everything, they say... :-)

Just read the article (On Line) from Islands Mag.....absolutely wonderful! Everyone should take the time to read it....short, but on point. Very nicely done. I have "passed it on" to all of my friends around the world to read, naturally! Wish we were there right now....soon, hopefully! Carole

This article showed a fresh perspective on Bonaire. It was well worth the reading.
