Does anyone out there know if there is a minimum age for the Departure Tax? We will have our 20-month old grandson with us in July. I have searched the web but can't find a specific answer to this question.

Does anyone know from personal experience or can you direct me to a website that will give me the answer I need?

Marvin

I don't know the definitive answer other than I have always paid it with my children starting from age 4 weeks. There is no lower fee or discount for children of any age that I do know. Again lots of experience on that score.

Just got off the phone with immigration. It seems that on some sites it lists tax at $25. It is still $20...also children under 2 are not supposed to be taxed. I guess Linda was making a contribution to the government coffers!

Thanks, Michael, for the answer. I see from your profile that you are a permanent resident of Bonaire. Thanks for taking the time to call immigration for me. I had a tough time coming up with an official website that had the answer.

This will actually be our second visit to Bonaire but the first time with grandchildren. Should be fun!

I suspect after reading the above I paid the tax because I always bought a seat for my child even though it was not required until he reached 2 years old.

You should definitely comfirm the tax bit before going through security and waiting for your flight. Not to say it is not true, but just that knowledge of the correct procedure may not have reached the person collecting your ticket at the gate. I still see people getting sent back through to purchase their departure tax. Boarding time is not when I'd like to be arguing the rules.
