Just returned to The Netherlands from Bonaire with our 5 kids. Had a wonderful time. Much more relaxed than on Curacao.
Made some pictures:

Hello Bob,

Welcome to the board! If you leave the space between "image" and the first bracket (SP??) you should do fine. It would look like this: \image{omschrijving}

have 2 find a way to improve quality.
photo's are 1MB each.
With irfanview I reduce the number of pixels in a batch from 2048*1536 to 640*480.
Then I make them 20% smaller to fit in the 50kb size. I'm not happy with the quality
Anyone a suggestion?

Bob, what software are you using? If it's photoshop elements, I can tell you in about 2 minutes how to do it. I first changew the size of the image to about 6 inches wide, then look for a "save for web" feature in your software. Adobe has a quality slider that lets you see the size the newly saved photo will be, take it under 50 and save it under a unique name or in a different folder

I have Photoshop, but have not used it yet.
I will try to see if it has similar features as you described in elements.
I also use Irfanview

Hang in there, Bob! You're doing great! Can't wait to see some more. The pic of the little girl with the iguana is precious...your daughter? Carole

PS It took me quite a while to figure out how to post pics and gif's. Takes practice, practice, practice to get them exactly the way you want them on BT! Good luck and we will be patiently awaiting more shots. cb

Bob the Photo hasn't come up yet but you may still be searching for it on your computer.. why can't you just make the picture 400x300 instead of reducing it 20% as well?? thats what I do and it comes out fine..P

Wow, what a monster. Where did you find it.
Saw only once a similar fish, but it looked smaller, at Westpunt in Curacao.

It took a while before my photo came, because it was a couple of bytes to big.
I had to reduce its size with 1%. While doing this, i found five more which had to be made e bit smaller. 50k is not always 50k apparently.
But I'm learning :-)

Nice shot.
I had to look very carefully to find the seahorse.
To be honest: I copied it to photoshop and enlarged it.
This trip to Bonaire was the first time in my life that I saw a seahorse. Was a wonderful experience.

Just check with the fellows at Wanna Dive at the Eden Hotel. Go in at the north end of the property and head North until you find a mooring block with a line going down to a sunken boat. Follow the line down and search around at 53 feet. That is where I saw my only seahorse in the wild. (That was Oct last year. He might have moved.)

Also, you could hire an experienced Bonaire Divemaster to lead your dive for a seahorse.

John,

If you go to the dive shop yellow submarine, they will tell you how to get there. Yellow submarine is at the beachside at the end of Kralendijk (not the airport side) There is een seahorse right in front of their doorsteps at a depth of about 30 feet. You will reach it within 5 minutes. If you know what it looks like, you cld even sea it while snorkling.
Although I had some very good explanation where to find the seahorse, I had to look very carefully before I found it.
Without the directions I never wld have seen it.
It was there a little more then a week ago.

You also have to go to karpata. Wonderful dive. You might run into a seaturtle

Thanks for the lead.

I love to see the well dressed tee shirt dive crowd. When I certified an instructor told me to look like a diver so I went out and bought a dive skin. I went to Bonaire and my friends were swim suit and tee shirt divers. Love the freedom.

To find the seahorse, I had three dives with people helping me. One on Mi Dushi, one at the Country Gardens and finally the last one where we saw the seahorse.

I will try Karpata this year.

Thats what I like about diving in the Caribean.
You dont NEED all these skins / suits / gloves.
I was certified in 1978 on Curacao. We wore a T-shirt, had a very simple backpack, some pieces of lead and no life-vest.
Swimming in a T-shirt gives me more the feeling of "freedom" underwater. And, as I grew older, I created my own thermal isolation which I have always with me :-)
Sometimes I get stung by a jellyfish but I dont react very strong to that.
Sometimes I hurt a knee when touching the coral. That is good. Makes me more aware of the damage I do. Gloves are absolutely a nono. I've seen so many divers comfortly resting with their gloves on the coral while kicking it with their fins.

For the snorklers among us. If you want an easy dive and want to stay very close to the shore, try Bongo's. Nice beach and a lot of fish directly at the shore.
Dont bother to snorkel much further to try to find coral. I haven't found it.
What I did found was a BIG green muray, angels, tarpon, cumcumber, baracuda's, dolphins and the usual stuff. You can jump into the water but you have to be a little careful when leaving the water. There are some urchins and firecoral. Not mutch, but better be safe than sorry :-)
I went there when I wanted to have a short snorkel and watch the sunset.
They have a bar and you can eat on the beach.

Last Fall, Maria, a doctorate student from Spain, was studying frogfishes and seahorses. She asked divers to record where and how many they found among other things. It was fun to do. I was surprised to see so many of both @ different sites. (Most were found by the DM's) One DM said he found 15 seahorses in one dive day! (I like diving with him!)

Freddie...on your recent trip to Roatan you didn't run into a couple from Joseph City, Arizona, did you? Last name Tanner...Christine and Ron? Theyw were just there too and were diving their brains out. I think they stayed at a place called Anthony's Key Resort....they are working up to their first trip to Bonaire...I have been banging on them for years now and it is finally sinking in and they are going to get there to learn what REAL diving freedom is!
