Thanks for the pics and the mini report, Rob. Just love your personal quote, too! LOL. Read it to my husband and he chuckled and "understood" completely! We're ready for more about your trip and more pics if you have the time or the "inkling" to entertain us! Carole

Rob, good report (pics)...although it didn't help my PBD at all...looking at the dock at Bari (Sand$) just reminds me of the great dives Kelly and I had there in July (and where she saw her first turtle:-))

Well here we go,

When we got to Bonaire is was around 8:30pm and dark. After getting our bags, We headed over to get out rental car / truck. I could not believe how slow they moved, but what the hell I was on island time now. I looked over the rental truck and pointed out very little thing, you could tell the rental person was unhappy. The truck that we got was a piece of shi# it was all beaten up, I think the only thing holding this truck up was the rust. The tale gate was broken, no power steering, you could tell the tires needed to be replaced, the locking gas cap did not work, the seat belts did not work as well, and the one thing the renal truck did not have was a radio.

Now we made our way to the Condo. We stayed at the Sand Dollar. The condo we had was very nice, two bedrooms with two bathrooms, a full kitchen with a sit down bar / counter top, a dinning room table, a living room with one couch, 2 chairs, coffetable & end table, and it had cable tv. It had a sheered in porch. The place had AC only in the rooms, but if you had you door open the place was a ice box in no time.

The 1st night was with Captin Morgan and company. What a night. got to bed around 4:00am and we had to get up at 7:00 to get our diving tag. Around 9:00am I did my 1st dive in Bonaire was at Bari Reef nice warm water and the vis you could die for. Bari Reef is one of the Caribbeans's top sites to dive and i can see why. Some of the other place we dove was Karpata (a must), 1000 Steps, Helma Hooker, Salt Pier, Town Pier (saw a Frog Fish), Forest at the Klein, Lighthouse, Margate Bay, Small Wall, Reef Cam (thank you), Alice in wonderland, Bopec, Andrea I, Andrea II and many others. All the diving was excellent.

The best place to eat was at Casablanca and Bobbejan's. Bobbejan's is only open on Fri 6-9pm, Sat6-9pm and Sun 12-2pm / 6-9pm (you have to go here). We eat at the lion dean 3 times but they on the $$ side.

Well got to go for now, will give more on Mon.

Rob, Which car rental agency did you use? Just curious as I'm getting ready to reserve for our next trip.

Rob,
In all the years of going to Bonaire... All the rentals that I have had did not come w/ power steering... If you were that unhappy w/the truck they gave you, I hope you went back the next day to exchange it.

No, I did not try to exchange the rental truck. I just wanted to dive as much as i could and not deal with the rental agency any more. I do not recall what company we went with.

Great photo essay, Rob! I like the way you made it chronological. Really gives the viewer the feeling of going on a trip!

Shoot, I never thought about specifically asking for power steering. I will call my travel ag. immediately. Thanks for that tip and please post more details when you have time!
