Nicely done----- 19 days to go-----can't wait.
Did you actually drive the van thru the park or did you take a different vechicle? On our first trip back in 1990 we took a drive thru the Park on the short route but had a jeep-- haven't been up there since as I thought you neede a jeep type vechicle. Glad you both had a great time-- now you need to start planning for the next trip. I think it what keeps alot of us going

Thanks for your feedback. Yes I drove the minivan in the park and it did quite well but it had been dry for a long time. I wouldn't drive anything in the park if it had rained!!!
Have been searching airfares but it will be awhile before we can afford to go again, alas!!
Next time I'm going to use lots of bug spray and take my Cannon Aquasnappy!!

That's a really good trip report along with lots of wonderful photos. Glad you enjoyed 1000 steps, one of my favourite snorkel spots

When it's dry, they let everything in the park, I saw the tiny mini vans and the tiny little cars earlier this month.

When it's rained in the past 48 hours or so, a truck or jeep is advisable. I have never used 4 wheel drive, even in the wettest Xmas time. A few past Xmas' ago, the park was closed due to bad roads at least 7 out of our 15 days.

Sarah, Thanks for your comments. I just looked at your web site... awsome... cool pics. You must have a very nice camera and lots of talent! Now I'm dying to have more than a little digital Olympus in a plastic bag! Not sure what I'll do about the talent part. :-)

We can't wait to go back to Bonaire. Too short of a stay and didn't get to enough of the good spots. Maybe next spring.

I was amazed at what we saw snorkeling and we didn't get to that many spots. It is a dream place. I can see why everyone gets hooked!
Meryl, I take it your daughter is not into water! My oldest daughter was amazed with what we saw too, however, like her father, she thinks it is unnatural to breathe under water.

Nice report! Glad to see you found the Garden Cafe -- I noted your comment about their Baba Gannouj...

And I'm jealous -- everyone saw turtles during the time we were down there, and we never saw one!

Donkey for rent was taken next to the Sand Dollar convience store where there were two donkeys hanging out on a regular basis. My favorite land photo was of the Cactus fence country club!! We got a real kick out of that place.
Faith we thought the guy running the Garden Cafe a real character!!! Loved the babaganoj too- thanks for the recommendation. I really wanted to see octopus, a frogfish up close, a manta, and a seahorse but didn't luck out on any of them. Oh well, something for next time right?
What we failed to say in our trip report was that we both had a great time there! It was 2Nancy's first time ever in the Caribbean and I had been telling her about how much better the Caribbean was than Florida snorkeling (she's a native Floridian) so she was psyched!!! Now she can't wait to get back!

Linda has yet to see a turtle while actually diving on Bonaire either, so don't be too hard on yourself :-)

Thanks. We had such a great time. Can't wait to go again. Hope you read our Disclaimer on the photo's page. It's good for a laugh! Darlene, we had a fantastic time with Renee. She is so smart and has sharp eyes. She is the one who found the turtles. The one that is only a partial picture was down really deep. I couldn't get down that far, so a gal on the boat took my camera and went down to take the picture. When she came back, she said she didn't think it took. Wow, what a pleasant surprise to see she got most of it. The other one was swimming along at the Andrea site.
Faith, it was great talking to you and Dan at the dinner. Haven't made it to the links you gave me, but if not too busy today, I plan to do that.

Addendum to trip report:
We totally forgot to mention that we went to the Bonaire Talk dinner on 10/13/01 and enjoyed it very much. Thanks to Jake and Linda for organizing it! It was great to meet other Bonaire Talkers and put faces to some of the names we see.
2Nancy emailed the pictures she took of everyone to Susan Feldman and Susan put them on her web site in her trip report as we hadn't yet gotten our act together!
Now if only we could all get there at the same time!!!
