I have a web page up with photos and 15 second movies - including an octopus swimming, an eel hunting at night, and a turtle noshing away, oblivious to the divers near him.

For some reason (ok, operator error, I admit it) the photos I took at the BonaireTalk get together didn't come out, drat it all. So nothing from that night except of Geoffrey and me. Really, there were loads of people there!

What a nice job, Susan! Looks like you and Geoffrey had a ball. Thanks for taking the time to put it all together for all to enjoy. Carole

Thanks, Susan. Glad you are back safe and sound. Your pictures and movies are great! You are mighty quick about posting everything - it took me a full month to get around to my report. Must have been that "island time" thing.

Awsome, Susan... just Awsome! It was great meeting you and Geoffrey. I have some pics of the gathering. If you would like I will be happy to email them to you. Your pictures make me even more determined to learn to dive! I'm working on a web page to display our pics.. my camera will do short little movies, but I forgot all about it. Darn... just have to make another trip and do it all over again.
Glad you made it home safely. Thanks again for sharing your pictures.

Nice shots! I especially like the octopus…they always fascinate me. Can you tell me what you were using for lighting/flash. I’m certainly interested in this same camera as I’ve seen quite a few people recently having great success with it.

Sue and Geoffrey, loved the pictures, great composition, but I not sure I understand what happened to your colors. As an example here one of your's.

SD1

Here's a very similiar picture taken by Ellen (same camera).

SD2

Now I don't know if the difference is from post processing, different lightning, or some other factors. It seem like you guys lost your whites (all shifted to blue). You mentioned the filter, a gentleman in Japan wrote that he got the filter and used it and was not satisfied with the results. Maybe Ellen can shed some light on the difference.

Cecil,

For some of the photos, the post-processing I was doing didn't seem to be getting it right, so I just left them the way they were 'straight from the box', so to speak. The one above is one of those. The best I could do looked too green to me:

Although, if I alter the contrast...

Susan, I thoroughly enjoyed your shots of the coral formations and the abundance of reef life. Thank you for posting S:)

Sarah,
Thanks, I'm glad you liked them.

Cecil, thanks for putting a bit of a fire under my tush - with a little patience I can probably fix up the others that I'd left alone as well. My only excuse is I was getting tired of doing them (there are 114 of them) and if they didn't just work well the first time I started to spend less and less time trying to get them right.

Straight from the camera, they all looked that bluish. Visibility was not as good as I've seen it in Bonaire before, lots of things were stirred up in the water, I guess from some distant storms. Perhaps that contributed to it? I'm not sure. What was the Japanese gentleman's issue with the filter, do you remember?

Susan, you did answer one question. It's the post processing that fixes the photo's. I did thought that might be the deal. The conversation about the red filter was over at Steve's Digicams at Link.

Susan, wonderful pics and I loved the video clips. Helped with my PBD a bit. Where did you see the turtle? I had really wanted to see one in Sept. but the only glimpse I got was one diving from the surface on our boat ride out to the Hilma Hooker. Maybe next year!

Hi Cynde Lee,

I'm glad you liked them. We saw the turtle at Oil Slick Leap. There were also 3 seahorses right near that mooring.

I think that, Rockpile (where we saw the giant green moray), and the Invisibles ranked in our top 3 dive sites, this time. Of course La Dania's Leap, Captain Don's Reef, Karpata, Alice in Wonderland, Sampler, Small Wall, North Belnem, and even La Machaca were wonderful, too...

Drat! Now the PDB is hitting me!

Susan, we saw the seahorses at oil slick as well. No turtle though...

Susan, your movies are AWESOME! I am looking into a new UW camera for our next dive vacation - holding off til just before we go since cameras/prices are constantly upgrading/dropping. I definitley enjoyed the results of your camera and will keep it in mind. Thanks!
