I just got around to developing and scanning some of my film that I took during our recent stay at Capt Don's Habitat. BTW we stayed in the Oasis Cottages and thought these were very nice units.

Cecil,
I suspect that thumbscrews and bamboo under the fingernails couldn't force you to shoot film.

OK, I looked at your homepage and know that it was a Nikon 8008s.

Diana,
If I was starting out in U/W photography today, I would definitly go digital. Digital just has too many advantages: instant feedback, many choices of cameras and housing, no developing costs, no hassles with airport inspections, etc.

IMO film is still superior to digital in terms of image quality and even though I have begun using a digital camera myself I'm not selling off my film equipment, at least not yet. All of the photos in the W/A gallery were taken with a Nikon 8008s, 16mm lens, two SB105 strobes and Fuji Velvia 100 film

Carole,
It's people like you that keep me posting on Bonaire Talk. When I post images on the web I'm more or less conceding that people can download them and use them for whatever purpose they choose. Rather than post low quality images or photos with copyright or watermarks I try to limit the number of photos I post.

I'm really glad you enjoyed them but you'll just have to wait till my next trip to see more.

Larry

Larry,
Those with the C5050 are also very beautiful. Especially the seahorse I like and the one with the moon and neon-lighting.
I'm also looking to up-grade my olympus C-990Z to the C5050. Also because the wide angle lens, my hubby bought for his video housing fits on the pt015. I get more convinced every time I see pictures of the C5050!

Beautiful photos--the second one especially. Those irridescent colors coming off the fish are awesome.

Igor,
To get colorful photos you need to:
1.Get as close as possible.
2.Use a strobe.
3.Use the best film available

In my wide-angle gallery all of the images were taken with a 16mm lens and the distance to the forground subject would be measures in inches and not feet (or cm. and m. for you Euro guys.) I also use twin Nikonos SB105 stobes and either Kodak E100VS or Velvia (50 or the new 100.)

Thanks Larry.
So you haven't done any processing on the computer? Wow!
The shots are truly amazing. I guess the double strobes really pay off.

Igor,
Some processing is always necessary when a slide is scanned. On all of them there has been some tweaking of levels or curves and some sharpening to make the digital output an accurate representation of the original slide. There has been no altering or enhancing of the color. On my laptop the images look pretty much the same as the projected slide.

>I guess the double strobes really pay off.>

Having 2 strobes does help but they won't do any good if you're not close enough.
