My wife and I enjoyed spending a few evening hours at the Sunset Beach resort bar, (I belive it was Sunset, the resort closed then burned) which is no longer open. Wonder if anyone can suggest a similar resort for our evenings.

Unfortunately that atomsphere is pretty much gone... I have been impressed with the layout of the Bongo bar at Eden Beach.. it comes closest to the old beach hut bar.. but I am not sure that it is worth staying there just for that... honest truth I tend to go from resort to resort for the different manager parties.. Of the current resorts,I would say for my guilder, the closest coming to match the old ambiance is Capt Don's with the distinct advantage of faster service at the bar and restaurant... also you are in really easy walking distance to two better restaurants Dock of the Bay (I think its called) at Buddy's and Lion's Den at Lion Dive..so in answer to your question I would say Capt Don's.. their diving operation also comes closest to the old SBDC..

The tiki bar at Sunset was a lot of fun, wasn't it? Anyway, I think you will find all of the resorts along the coastline have happy hours every night of the week. But if you want some entertainment as well, at Buddy Dive Resort we have live music at our waterfront tiki bar on Wednesdays (taco night)and Fridays (barbecue night)from 5:30 - 7:00. Then right up the road from us, Captain Don's has live oceanside music on Monday's from 5:30 - 7:00, and again later on Thursday evenings. In between our two properties is Lion's Dive, and they have a nice water-front bar as well, although I am not sure about their entertainment schedule. When you arrive you should pick up a copy of a small free publication called "Update". It will tell you what is happening each night of the week you are here, from slide shows to dinner and entertainment specials. Enjoy your vacation!

Reni and I will be staying over in Sorbon, the bar there is nice but often empty. We have many nice memories of the Sunset Beach Bar; we had stayed at Sunsetbeach our first time in Bonaire about 15 years ago, I dont think back then it was called Sunset Beach(?). When I found it was closed for "Good" I came close to writing off Bonaire, the
Tiki bar was always a fun part of our vacation. Ill try the places you mentioned, thanks.
