We are traveling to Bonaire this week and wanted to know if merchants will accept 100.00 bills or 50.00 dollar bills? If not can you go to bank and exchange them there?

Michael -

Most, but not all merchants will accept $100. Nearly every one accepts $50. Things have changed since we converted to US Dollars, and most stores have been forced to start accepting the larger bills since the ATM's are regularly dispensing $50's and $100's. In fact any amount over $200 coming from an ATM includes at least 1 $100 bill, plus a $50.

Smaller stores sometimes can't make change for a $100, especially early in the day, so it it good to have a supply of $20's.

You can always go to the bank and change the $100's for $20's, that's no problem.
