Just read on a thread on BT that the departure tax has now increased. Can anyone tell me what it has now gone up to please.

On the topic of departure tax.......going back to the days of ALM.......I am flying out on Insel >>> BON to CUR then CUR to Miami - Question do you pay the international fee on Bonaire - or have things chg that you pay local fee for BON to CUR and then once on CUR pay the other fee????????

Sue, you pay the international tax on Bonaire, then you'll pay a $2 transfer fee in Curacao (there's a special transfer fee desk in the terminal in CUR; the Insel people will escort you to it).

Piggy backing on Ruth..have those 2 dollars handy and be ready to wait to pay the transfer tax. Often the desk is unmanned and you have to wait..

So, if you're flying back to the US via Aruba, do you have to pay the $35 tax? Isn't there a tax built into the plane fare from American?

AA does include the CUR departure tax from CUR and probably from AUA too (though I'm not 100% on this), so then you'd pay the local BON departure tax for CUR or AUA only (fls 15,50, about $9), then a transfer fee in CUR or AUA. I've always found the women at the BON tax window to be honest and helpful-show them your tickets and they'll tell you for sure.

fyi .. the departure tax booth has been closed and responsibility for collection is the airline you are traveling with. the reasons are multiple but the major is "inconsistencies" ..particularly involving 2 of the female collectors .. need i explain more ????

The information is accurate and it needs no further explanation until a thorough accounting is made. The important thing is that it is much easier to depart and eliminated one line visitors do not have to stand in...

Michael, I was asking because I was at the airport yesterday and the boot was still open and dealing with passengers. I did not wanted more information regarding the reason it was closed, just where the info came from.

Martin

Has the change been implemented? I can see how this can work for tickets yet to be issued, as above.

Does a person already ticketed (without the tax included in the price) still pay at the booth or will the airline collect the money at check in?? Or what?
