Just another of those idiosyncracies of island life....

Curoil customer service... yes the place with all those big tanks.

" I need a propane refill for my barbecue please"

" not today tomorrow it has to come from Curacao!!"

"But you are closed tomorrow where do I get it?"

"Gas expres!!"

Just amazing!

Hi Superd-You do know that "Gas Ekspres" is a gas station, right? You can trade in your little LP tank there for a full one. They will not refill a tank for you (that's not done on Bonaire, as far as I know).

Ruth

I was kidding around about waiting for "gas expres"...

But you are kidding me about not filling tanks on Bonaire??????? They really ship thousands of these things to and from Curacoa to get filled?

It sure looked like they had bulk tanks at the Curoil depot. It would be crazy not to bulk transfer this stuff. I will have to check next time I go over there.

Nope, not kidding. That's what they always did before; the tanks go back & forth since there's no LP filling station here (or wasn't). Maybe it's different now, but you were told they're waiting for fuel from Curacao...most likely they meant the actual tanks.

We, plus other restaurants/hotels, etc., have been waiting for a big commercial tank for 2 years now, like they have in Curacao; which'd be way easier for us than the individual tanks. Then they'd send over the LPGas truck to fill them (now I have to have 10 100lb gas tanks at KFC).

The 100lb bottles are filled locally, the 20lbs make the run back and forth to Curacao. No idea why. I run a pair of 20s (one for my stove, one for my dryer), and they usually last me a few months each. Of course, the only times they both go dry at once are the times that there aren't any small bottles on the island.

Kevin, he 100 pound bottles are filled in Curacao, not locally unless the have changed the past few weeks. Also, Harbour Village Marina will fill 20 lb bottles on the spot..No need to wait for the boat to come in..
