Hi,
Does anyone know any of the cable/satellite providers on the island?

I know Flamingo TV is one but there should be more?

Also, do channels like TNT, WB, ESPN exist on the packages?

thanks,
kj

KJ,
Welcome to the board.

Currently Flamingo is it for cable TV. All of the above channels are provided when the receivers are working. Do a key word search (in tool bar at bottom)for more information.

There are some with wireless TV but I am not one of them so have no insights to offer.

UTS also provides TV but uses the Spanish Satellite for its programming Habla Espanol?

UTS has quite a range of English programming, but it is secondary to its Spanish selection. A lot of the cable channels are in Latin American versions, which will have English language dialog (sometimes with Spanish subtitles) and Spanish language advertisements. TNT Latin America is just strange: I don't understand why they provide such an unusual selection of programming, and relegate all of their original programming to Saturday afternoon. Cartoon Network is Cartoon Network Latin America, which provides a mix of English language and Spanish language, and has its own version of Adult Swim (which features "Home Movies" and "Baby Blues", both of which I enjoy, and now provides me with a double dose of "Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law", which I truly appreciate. UTS does provide FOX, which Flamingo did not. UTS also provides a wide range of special channels, and some truly graphic pornography if that appeals to you.

Service quality is a mixed bag. I left Flamingo because I did not believe it would be possible for anyone to provide me with worse service. UTS has challenged that belief. While it tends to keep its distribution up, and actually delivers all of the channels that it promises all the time, it comes with a flaky settop box that frequently needs to be unplugged and plugged back in to make it start working again. In my own living room, it's frustrating. As a hotel owner, it's a source of customer complaints that I could live without.

Hi,
As far as sports are concerned, does ESPN cover baseball, football, basketball at all or is it just the Spanish version?

Also, does anyone know if one is able to watch NFL football games on CBS or NBC or nationally-televised baseball games on FOX?

I love sports and hope that I can watch the same as I can in America.

Hi K J

If I was going to spend any length of time on Bonaire and had to have my american sports I'd invest in a product called SlingBox.

Bill
