My boyfriend and I recently visited the animal shelter in Bonaire and brought them some things they needed. We'd like to send meds they need and requested and money to them but don't know the best way to do this. Any suggestions?

Sue, go to www.SupportBonaire.org and click on "Donate." Then you can choose which Foundation to donate to (yes, the Animal Shelter is one). At the bottom of the form, there is a "comment box" and in that box if you want the funds to go to something specific at the shelter, put the information there.

Also, if you want to keep up with what is going on at the Animal Shelter and the fundraising being organized for the Shelter - http://www.bonaireanimalshelter.org/ is updated regularly.

Thank you Bea, Marvin, and Cynde. I understand how I can donate funds to the Animal Shelter but how would I send medications to the them? Does anyone know of a specific person in charge? If not I might be able to find an islander who would be willing to drop them off at the shelter. Thanks for your support.

The animal shelter might want to check ahead of time to see if there will be import duties on whatever is being sent--this might make things cost prohibitive (and maybe best if you find someone traveling down who's willing to carry them). Best not to have a costly "surprise" like that for a good deed.
