We were in bonaire last week - it was wonderful. Besides diving, I'm also a birder, so I stopped by Fontein to catch a peek at the Pearly-eyed Thrashers that live there.

Now I'm curious about the place itself - the ruins, the old tanks with the fish in them, the chickens, the running spring in the middle of the "desert". Can anyone shed some light on what that place was, and how long ago? Is it public property now?
