Maybe a bit of good news to all you Americans: Delta airlines intends to start a weekly service from Atlanta to Curacao, starting January 5. It's not direct to Bonaire, but it's a heck of a lot closer :)

Can anyone advise the best way to get from Curacao to Bonaire? Airline name, ferry, etc? And if by airline, does it fly that route daily? Thanks for your help!

Marc,

Where did you find the announcement re Delta to Cur beginning Jan 5. I checked their website and did not see an announcement. I also checked their flight schedules and the only flights they show after Jan 5 is their codeshare flight with Air Jamaica to Cur.

tks

Marc,
Is it a direct flight or stops in Jamaica? How much is it to fly from Curacao to Bonaire?

It was in Amigoe a couple of days ago (yes, part of my PBD is that I read that newspaper almost daily...). They are waiting for the final draft with Delta, so that's why it won't be on Delta's website yet. There were supposed to be 2 flights per week, but now it will be only one. Delta wants a guarantee for Nafl 20.000, with would ammount to 80 seats sold per flight.
Carol, I've read nothing about a stop in Jamaica. Flying to BON will cost you about Nafl 120 with DCA, or 75 with Divi Divi... but then you can only bring handlugage.

Divi Divi only allows hand luggage? Or both Divi and DCA only allow hand luggage?

Divi Divi. Small propellor planes, mostly; only room for a couple of passengers. DCA uses Dash 8 or MD 82 planes, which have normal cargo areas.

The Divi Divi has room for 7 passengers and pilot. I have used them when ever possible and have carried any and all luggage with no problems. They will even let you carry odd size items in the cabin. Painless and punctual... Can't ask for more than that!

Actually, with the new plane Divi Divi has, they can handle nine passengers, I believe.

"Tis so.

Divi Divi, handled our three bags - 1. Dive Gear 2. Stuff for our condo. 3. Clothing, as well as two fairly good size carry-ons. Does hold nine passengers, one gets to be co-pilot. It's a pretty good deal, and if Delta is truly going to provide a direct from Atlanta to Curacao, great! We've only got about a jillion frequent flier miles on Delta to burn! Keep us posted on developments.

As of last Saturday, Delta has started this weekly flight from Atlanta to Curacao. They'll be using a Boeing 757, with 20 first class seats and 153 economy. If the connection proves successfull, the frequency may be upped.
