Just found out that AA has made more changes to the flight times for American Eagle from/to San Juan. The flight to Bonaire will be leaving SJ at 8:30pm and arriving at 10:27pm and the flight from Bonaire will now leave at 8:50am and arrive in SJ at 10:5am. Not sure when this begins but I am guessing it will be in the fall when they drop to three days a week.

My Jan 20 flight Arrives 10:27 PM and Feb 11 flight leaves 8:50. No notice of change given but checked reservations now. Close connection on the 11th...getting into SJU 10:54 and leaving 12:50... with going through customs 2 hours is minimal. Peter

Checked my tickets for November and yup, got the change that Sue just said, should be interesting in San Juan when I go back as I have now 55 minutes to catch the flight to Miami. Customs to go through too. Augh! Making one flight change is bad enough, but then when they go doing it a second time, who knows, they may even do it again before November. Will have to keep a watch on them till then...

Not even sure if I can make my connecting flight from SJ to Miami come to think of it. They have me arriving in SJ at 10:55am and leaving for Miami at 11:55.

Debbie, good luck with that one. As you probably know, Miami is a nightmare.

Mary, I sure do. Sent an email to hubby to see what he wants to do. Even if I change it, AA might mess with those flight times.

Just got off the phone with AA. I have changed my tickets to now leave SJ to Phila. instead of SJ to MIA to PHIL. as it is not enough time to do so. Now, a long layover both ways. Oh Joy, can't wait, but I am on a plane at least.

I thought there might be some chatter about AA on this board, as I just HAPPENED to check my reservations made for December 26th - January 3 flying out of and back to St. Louis. My flight segments from San Juan to Bonaire were GONE!!! They had me flying into and out of San Juan only! I called the AA agent, and was told that they have reduced the number of days that they fly into and out of Bonaire from 5 to 3, and obviously the days of the week I had booked -- a Friday and a Saturday -- were days that they dropped! And they had given me no notice of that fact! You would think that having a Platinum status with AA would matter, but obviously not. So -- I had to try to extend my stay by one day on each end (will not mind another couple of days on my favorite island!) -- so booked on Christmas day to fly in -- no problems and ample connection times. But they were full on both January 2nd and January 4th on the Bonaire-to-San Juan flight for my return. The agent said that they would work on getting me on one of those flights, but I have not yet heard from them. I assume that others of you have confirmed her statement that the number of days that they fly into and out of Bonaire from San Juan has been reduced from 5 to 3???

American and American Eagle are also cutting flights at or, pulling out of some U.S. airports altogether. http://money.aol.com/news/articles/_a/large-airports-will-lose-american/20080626132509990002

Steve, here is a link with some more discussion about the changes. Flights to Bonaire from San Juan are now Tues, Thurs, Sat and from Bonaire to San Juan Wed, Fri, Sunday. We also had to change our flights for the Christmas holiday as AA had dropped our days for Bonaire flights.

After several AA schedule changes where I did NOT receive any notification I did receive an email this morning. This change is a positive one at least. We only have a 3 hr layover in SJU on the way home. That is the good news. The bad news is that we have 9 hours on the trip down.

I contacted AA last night after hearing that there were seats available on the January 4th flight to San Juan -- to no avail, as the agent insisted that the flight was full. So -- I have booked my return trip out of Curacao. Now -- I just need to get to Curacao to catch a 9:10 AM departure for Miami on January 4th. Can anyone tell me what airlines I need to contact to do that? The AA agent on the phone last night was pretty uncertain, so I want to confer with YOU all-- the REAL experts. Any information and advice for getting me and my dive gear to Curacao from Bonaire would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Steve, I have to tell you when something like that happens, get the name of the agent and their ID. It is plain WRONG for someone to give such bogus information. An AA agent recently cost me A LOT of money because of misinformation she provided. I have no name or reference to file my complaint and the loss is mine.

AA has changed the Boston to San Juan schedule again. We are leaving in late February and the time departing Boston is now 8:45am instead of 6:15.

We've stayed at Habitat. Beautiful house reef. Food is just ok. Nice dive shop and staff, although Tuke is gone (a colorful character), it is a well managed dive shop. Habitat is a little out of the way, but has a nice tank stop for trucks if you rent a truck. We would go back to Habitat. Rent a truck and you will be happy there.

Thanks, David! This helps. Had definitely planned to rent a vehicle, probably a truck, especially if we are there for the 10-day minimum at Lion Dive. Hope others will weigh in!

We were in Curacao a couple of years ago and the diving was really good. Not Bonaire, but really good. We found a dive operation called the Dive Bus (http://www.the-dive-bus.com/) and Suzy and Mark who run it are great. They know the island and dive sites well, and are fun to be with. Then they just had an old VW bus that was the dive bus and it was all shore diving. I think they've expanded to boat dives and have a dive shop now as well. We weren't staying at a dive hotel, but with them it didn't matter because the Dive Bus picks you up and drops you off. We stayed downtown at Kura Hulanda (where our original hotel put us after they had a flood) and it was a nice property and was interesting, but I'm glad it was only a few days...for longer you probably want to be at the beach unless you're there for commerce.

We stayed at Sunset Waters on Curacao in 2004 and it was just fine; food OK, not super. Get a room on the cliff, not the cheaper ones inland.

Thanks, Tom. To their credit, the woman in Chicago with whom I booked the stay was absolutely honest with me when I inquired about the quality of the food. OK, but not super, was the gist of her response. I was impressed by her candor and honesty! We have a junior suite booked, which is a corner room with an ocean view I understand. Looks like DAE is going to be picking up some business into and out of Curacao and Aruba given the AA Bonaire flight reductions.

AA cutbacks are for both Bonaire and Curacao. Aruba still has decent daily service from a number of US airlines.
