We will be visiting Bonaire the last week of September. Unfortunately we could not get our flights to work on one of the legs so we have to spend a night in Miami. Does anyone have suggestions on hotels close to the Miami airport? I am sure it will be an adventure gettng to Bonaire - we are flying United from Denver and then ALM - but well worth the effort.

There is a great hotel right at the airport, the MIA Internaitonal. If you make an advace reservaton, try to arrange a corporate rate. They generally will give disounts if you say the right corp or if you are a government employee, etc. There are litterally hundreds of other hotel nearby that do run shuttle busses as well. Go on one of the travel web sites for names and prices.

Brian,

When we went cruising in April, we stayed at the Howard Johnson's right across the street from the Port of Miami. It was nice and about $75 a night, safe and clean. The taxi ride cost us $15 and it only took 15 minutes since it is less than 10 miles from the airport.

There is an open air mall called The Bayside Marketplace just across the street that we walked to and had dinner. They have live music and a sort of street fair atmosphere on one side, with many vendors selling everything from jewelry to "aqua-massages". Then on the other side there is stores like Gap, Guess, Limited Express and more specialty stores and coffee shops. There is a huge food court with Cuban food, Italian food, Chinese food, you name it, they got it.

Check out the hotel on travelocity.com. Or call them directly. The address and phone number is:

HJ HOTEL PORT OF MIAMI
PORT OF MIAMI, FL
1100 BISCAYNE BLVD
Miami, FL
Telephone: 305-358-3080
Fax: 305-358-8631

Hope this helps!

Cheryl

Thanks for the advice - sounds like I should be paying close attention to ALM and United regarding changes in flight schedules as we get closer to our trip.
