We're heading to Bonaire this Saturday (woo hoo)! However, our flight from Ottawa lands at Newark at 3:30 PM... does anyone have any suggestions about how to kill 8 hours in the Newark airport?!? I know we should definitely find something to eat when we arrive, as the food places will close down later in the evening. Other than that, does anyone have any suggestions for passing the time until the red eye? Apart from wandering around the airport sighing "I wish we were already in Bonaire...", of course! Is there a Continental lounge or something that we could buy access to that is more comfortable than just being in the general waiting area? If there is a lounge, is it worth it?
Thanks!

Jennifer, there is a Continental Lounge that includes showers I believe. We looked into paying the one visit fee last year but since we only had 4 hours declined to do so. You can find out more about what is offered and what the rates are on the Continental website.

We actually booked an airport hotel. It was nice to be able to stretch out, nap, shower and relax the day away. There's also the option of going to the Statue of Libery/Ellis Island. Check the ferry schedules though, we didn't have enough time with their early return.

I had a 9.5 hour layover in EWR.
I walked around alot, watched TV and talked with other passengers. Around 7-9 pm you can walk around and see the flights departing to Asia and Europe.

I forgot something important: Make sure you get a decent meal as the restaurants tend to shut down around 8-9 pm.

The thing that will time go faster will be thinking of your dives once you reach Bonaire.
